    Pros

Very high profile and challenging projects

    Cons

Too much cronyism in senior management

    Advice to Management

    Treat employees with more respect

  2. It is a very driven company in the construction industry.

    Pros

There are very hard working and intelligent project managers and superintendents that work for Lend Lease. Everyone for the most part is willing to help and teach as long as you are willing to put in effort.

    Cons

Pay is not up to standard for the amount of work needed to be done. Being such a large company, there are too many requirements to complete simple everyday tasks.

    Advice to Management

Consolidate some of the processes (i.e. - contract process, safety requirements etc.)

I have been working at Lend Lease full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great Benefits. Pay is consistent with industry average.

    Cons

Policies take too long to be passed down to the construction project level. By the time changes reach the project level they're outdated.

    Advice to Management

Align individual growth, career advancement and performance with compensation increases. Cut some of the red tape and institute proper changes.

Reputation for doing big jobs but leadership and trustworthiness is lacking

    Pros

Good pay Usually takes in 2-3 year projects which creates stability at your position Chance to work with some very smart people who can build just about any size project

    Cons

If you don't rub elbows with the right people you can consider yourself an outsider and thus expendable Work very long hours and they expect weekends as well, even if a project is on schedule The management and leadership vibe can be very secretive and create a feeling of separation from those who are "in" and those who are "out". Expectations are high, depending on who you are working with, even if the leaders of a project don't hold themselves to the same levels of expectations. Safety is a huge factor with this company, almost to the point where it feels it is a safety company trying to do construction, not the other way around. Safety is important but common sense has to be used when planning and performing work.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to better communicate with employees so there is not such a feeling of uncertainty and separation.

I worked at Lend Lease full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Nice projects. Some really excellent, intelligent people. Very safety conscious. High gloss marketing. They have an attractive, prepared 'talk' that they don't always 'walk'.

    Cons

Tendency to be clannish and secretive. Restructuring has created negative dynamics (fearful and insecure). Some major-league ego maniacs and power trippers resulting in back-biting and in-fighting. Horrible for women at times.

    Advice to Management

Make an effort to get honest feedback from all aspects of the business instead of relying on sycophants.

Safety is a priority but keeping staff is not.

    Pros

There are very talented people at Lend Lease. Their repuation for safety is incredible, and ingrained to all employees.

    Cons

The company has lost 30 plus employees in the New York office, some of which have been with the company for 20 years. It seemed that every week 1 to 3 people have left the company. The company made little to no attempt to keep employees on the brink of leaving.

I have been working at Lend Lease full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very good benefits. Good training. Decent pay. Flexibility. Nice co-workers.

    Cons

Good ole boy network. If you are connected, you are fine. Inefficiencies produce repeated duplication of work effort. Very heavy work load and very long hours with very high demand for results. Review process is cumbersome, lengthy and usually does not apply to current tasks.

    Advice to Management

The 7 P's apply strongly. Take a good look at the reasons for so much inefficiency.

I worked at Lend Lease as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

I made friends while I worked there and really enjoyed the ability to have good co-worker relationships.

    Cons

It was demanding work and there was pressure from above to do everything right. The work atmosphere would go downhill very quickly if the construction job went off the timeline.

    Advice to Management

Simplify the process of employee reviews and promotions. It is lengthy and could be much more effective by condensing it and making it straight to the point. Also, be mindful of overworking employees.

    Pros

Bovis is a big company so you can transfer worldwide if there is an opening, however, you have to dig to find these opportunities.

    Cons

In CA, Bovis only does construction management, which has dried up for them over the past 3 years. Sometimes when you get placed on a project, you are stuck there and can't move around to other projects if they like you. You can get pigeonholed into a position, and your career growth stops.
