I have been working at LexisNexis Legal & Professional full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

If you can find a position at this company that you love, you'll be happy working for LexisNexis. They have a good support infrastructure for home-based employees, good time-off policy and they try to foster a friendly, supportive working environment.

    Cons

There aren't many opportunities to grow personally or get promoted, most career moves are probably lateral. The worst is the compensation offered. I can only speak for editorial positions, but there are no bonuses and you will only get your regular 2.5% increase annually (as long as you meet your PDP expectations). It's disappointing but the flexibility and autonomy of the job outweigh the cons. The training and skill-improvement offerings leave a lot to be desired. The courses in the internal catalog of "learning" are terribly out of date and I get the impression employees are left to their own devices to improve their skills and knowledge. The other thing that's gone downhill is their health insurance. The high-deductible health plan is now mandatory for all US employees. The only choice you have is between a high deductible and a very high deductible. For a healthy person who only requires minimal doctor office visits and a prescription or two, this is very expensive as you never have a chance to meet your deductible and have to pay all your expenses out of pocket. They do contribute to your HSA which may just about cover your medical expenses if you're careful enough.

I have been working at LexisNexis Legal & Professional full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Work life balance and great product training

    Cons

Constantly changing, eliminating positions and inability to get promoted within

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the RC's sales people again, give them commission, stop taking people for granted and think about where the relationships are within the firms. The CM's don't have them.

    Pros

The people working there are great.

    Cons

This company does not value its people. They are constantly letting good, highly-placed people go in a misguided effort to make the company more profitable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Quit managing quarter to quarter.

I have been working at LexisNexis Legal & Professional

    Pros

Great employees who stick together and get the work done. They hire great people but if they make too much...bye! Overall, pretty good pay and benefits, but you might not have them forever.

    Cons

Stick with it til you retire if you have a few years left. If you are in the beginning or middle of your career, leave. Middle managers who take off every Friday and are pretty much concerned with their own status. Constant threats and just all around not the place you want to be today. The future for this company does not seem great. I wouldn't put my eggs in this basket. Oh, and middle managers who just outright deceive you for the sake of their own career.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

What's the latest strategy? Can you stick with one for any length of time?

I have been working at LexisNexis Legal & Professional

    Pros

Great Benefits, Great work from home position, decent management. Lot's of change

    Cons

Sometimes too many changes, public company so innovation takes a back seat to share holders. Some competitors in our industry have 200 developers. We have 34 if we are lucky. Our products are standing still.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should have leaders who really understand industry. Don't be foolish... Yes you made a mistake and invested in Siebel. It is a worthless platform. Use your brain. At a cost of about $1,000 per rep per year you could get Salesforce. It would help with employee retention and you'd see an increase in productivity and sales. No real crm makes it a painful place to work.
