I have been working at LexisNexis Legal & Professional full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great teams in Finance and Accounting. Great benefits. Good Pay in Dayton. I have really enjoyed working here for the past several years.

    Cons

Some financial systems are out of date. Complicated business infrastructure which makes cross business communication difficult. There is also high turnover in sales and a few other business segments

    Advice to Management

Simplify business structure and update systems to fortune 100 standards. Other than that, LexisNexis is a great place to work and certainly one of the best big businesses to work for in Dayton, Ohio

I have been working at LexisNexis Legal & Professional full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great team, great culture of work-life balance, great clients. Work is challenging due to complex products. Company offers many opportunities to learn. I enjoy working with the brightest legal minds in my city. You are viewed as the expert on legal research tools. Many opportunities to perfect your presentation skills.

    Cons

Large Law seems to be restructuring on a yearly basis so there is always concern about lay-offs. That gets tiresome to constantly worry about having a job, even if you are a high-level contributor. Not much room for advancement as most managers have been in their positions for decades. The company is "modernizing" their interactions with clients which means more YouTube videos and less face-to-face interaction, which was a cornerstone of Lexis at one time.

    Advice to Management

Don't take away the human touch of Lexis. The representatives/consultants are the best personification of Lexis. You can't replace them with YouTube videos and get the same results. YouTube can't interact with the clients like a well-trained lawyer can.

Miamisburg location is far from Kettering and there is a large-business feel.

    Pros

Being at LexisNexis has given me the opportunity to expand my career. I've been with the organization for 3.5 years and after 2.5 years I was promoted. Work hard and be rewarded.

    Cons

Communication across all business units need to be improved. Unfortunately employees don't know what's going on in different business units. It would be good to share what's going on so all are aware.

    Advice to Management

I think great changes have been made to the organization, and trust that the work is getting done. We might want to better communicate the changes in all business units to all employees, not those that are on distributions lists.

    Pros

Great people to work with. Lots of great mentors and caring individuals. Great opportunities for career development for those who are driven to take advantage of same.

    Cons

Recently lots of changes and restructuring and loss of critical experience/knowledge. Challenging for managers, employees and customers.

    Advice to Management

More planning prior to large layoffs to ensure knowledge base is not lost and customer commitments continue to be met.
