  1.

    The co-workers are friendly and helpful, unfortunately the management style is still straight out of the 1950's.

    I worked at Liberty Mutual Agency full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Working out of my home.
    Company car provided.

    Cons

    Training was non-existent. Career ladder was non-existent unless you are based in the office in Ohio. Time off was an exercise in finagling. Often the 37.5 hour work week was impossible with the field work and office time but it was Mandatory.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be realistic in your expectations. An employee cannot be in two or three places at one time. When an employee is supposed to attend a legal matter, please send the file on the case a few days before the event so that the employee representing the company has an opportunity to be familiar with it.

    Pros

    * Good people to work with. Friendly, kind and helpful.
    * Good location
    * Good company picnics
    * Good recognition awards

    Cons

    * unbelievable amounts of work, which just increased due to company re-organization
    * loss of posistions due to recent changes
    * family-like atmosphere no longer present, typical corporate politics have taken its place
    * upper manager out of touch with the reality of the day-to-day workings
    * poor management decision which directly affect customer service and increase stress and anxiety in the workplace.
    * workflows change from day to day so you have no idea what is going on. Gives the impressions that management just shakes a magic 8-ball in order to make decisions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    * Get a clue and involve those people who actually perform the work before making major workflow changes. Especially from an office that has been the top performer in the country 3 years running.
    * Stop hiriing yes-men to do the job and actually be humble enough to take some contructive advice.

    I have been working at Liberty Mutual Agency

    Pros

    Opportunity to gain education and advancement. The corporation as a whole is very well managed. The upper management in the division I work for does not think; they only have knee-jerk reactions to any issues.

    Cons

    Upper management struggles to make the right decisions in a timely manner. They are very wasteful with the companies finances.
