I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great company to work for! This company is great for college new hires. The RMDP program that Liberty's Risk Control has is a fantastic way to start your career. Upper management is very supportive and more than happy to help in any way possible. Coming directly from college, I was expecting to be overwhelmed with the information that would be given to me, but due to the structure that the RMDP provides, I was pleasantly surprised. I get to see different industries every day, which constantly keeps me challenged. The team atmosphere also provides a very smooth transition. Everyone is just as new as you are which gave me peace of mind. If you want to travel and see something different every day, this is a position for you to look into. Liberty Mutual as a whole puts a lot of emphasis on their employees, and truly wants to help them succeed. Development is always available. I've learned and developed more than I ever thought I would in the first three months of employment.

    Cons

Systems can be improved, but can easily be learned.

I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay is good if you want to sit at a desk from 830am to 8pm and make calls.

    Cons

When I left the company they have never release all my 401K money and this has happened to other past employees as well, They play favorites and turn their backs on the bad policy writing being done by them and fire others who do the same.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favorites and letting the butt kissers get ahead. Promote those who work hard and deserve to be promoted.

I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, good systems, nice co workers.

    Cons

The company is firing all of it's local office service representatives and having a call center handle all incoming calls.

    Advice to Management

Train your call center reps in soft skill. They need it. That's why local customers prefer to have local representatives handle their service needs.

I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Solid company with great benefits and salary.

    Cons

inexperienced management staff; promotions given to favorites rather than tenured experienced staff. No training for new hires resulting from inexperienced managers; high turn over; heavy workload. Numbers driven organization. Regional VP's care more about numbers rather than ee's.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your employee's. Listen to what they're saying rather than creating more work. "Work Standard" has no true effect on day to day work progress. Employees participate in morning/weekly meetings because they have to not because they see a positive outcome. Also, if a model is effective for one company it doesn't mean it will work for all.

I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Stability. If you're good at kissing-***, and can do some basic coding, you can get by and make cash to make ends meet. Good "starter" job for someone out of college.

    Cons

Management is a bunch of dolts who don't know anything about software development. A lot of bureaucracy. Constant reorganization. Inefficient processes, work gets done very slowly and seems irrelevant most of the time. Poor work-life balance. Most IT shops have very flexible work from home policies, Liberty definitely lags in that space. Also the offices are not very comfortable. Hard to advance, most people have to leave the company to get a promotion.

    Advice to Management

Get your heads out of your rear ends and listen to the developers.

I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance (More than a year)

    Pros

You don't need to ask for time off. If it's available, you can take it. They don't give you much, though.

    Cons

Micromanagement capitol of the world. Management treats employees horribly. Call center environment no matter what they tell you.

    Pros

There are really no good pros working at Liberty Mutual.

    Cons

You're treated like you're 3 years old. Turnover is horrible.

    Advice to Management

Realize employees are not beneath you and treat them as adults.

I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Your time off accrual. Once there 10 years you get 25 paid days off plus 4 personal and 7 holidays. Also can carry over 20 annually.

    Cons

No work-life balance anymore, accountability of senior management is lacking, hire/promote not due to skill but who plays the game the best. Continuous improvement created but just a front as change things that don't have any true effect, do it to pat themselves on the back as a strong "working" CI process. Don't care about qualifications if can't be a "yes man"

    Advice to Management

Do an internal review of management and accountability. Get rid of nepotism and "loyalty", look at root of problem.

    Cons

Work life balance is horrible. Micro Management and disgraceful meetings where the managers brow beat everyone It's a negative environment that I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to work in

Get a recording device in the meeting rooms. You would be shocked.
