I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance as an intern (more than a year)

    Pros

The internship started with a two week training in Boston which was challenging and also very fun with lots of opportunity for social outings with coworkers.
Internship duties were challenging and I was given a lot of responsibility.
Liberty offered good seminar series, networking, and charity events with other interns.

    Cons

Although I was given real responsibility, it was often not enough work and could get dull at times even when I reached out to do more. Office was also a bit understaffed so coworkers were stressed and overworked.

    Recommends

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Dynamic team- Liberty Mutual is in the process of re-organizing personal insurance claims analytics, and along with that comes a ton of opportunities for projects with high exposure and impact. Any analyst will be met with challenges along the way, from data milling to model building. However, hard work always leads to high rewards, as salary and bonuses are second to none compared to other companies in the same industry

    Cons

Somewhat strict business formal dress code.

    Approves of CEO

I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Liberty is a great place to work. The facilities are awesome (especially the new cafe in the new building). People are generally friendly, and the company is large so you can make friends easily. They give a lot of training opportunities and are supportive of employees going to grad school part time or taking certification tests. Not to mention the hours are great (9-5 almost no exceptions).

    Cons

The environment is very conservative and corporate. Suits everyday ( even in the summer), conversation often consists of the weather, opportunity for growth (but not necessarily at the fastest pace)

    Recommends
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Working for Liberty in the Safeco Center in Seattle downtown, I love what the company stands for, how innovative it is in terms of IT/software/etc, and how hard-working yet "chill" my colleagues are. Both the Seattle buildings (Safeco Center and Safeco Plaza) are really nice and well-located. The work-life balance is great, especially as an entry-level hire/young hire (1-2 years). Salary/benefits are good too!

    Cons

Since Liberty is primarily an East Coast-based company, the work hours for the Seattle employees tend to shift earlier to accomodate those employees in Boston, New Hampshire, and Indianapolis. So, key work hours in Seattle usually range from 7 AM to 3 PM, which can be hard on those who aren't "morning people." Otherwise, everything else about the company is great!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management at Liberty should continue what they have been doing at the company over the past 5 years! They have pushed the organization to new heights, as it has become a model for how modern insurance companies should be led. Honestly, I couldn't be happier with our current high level executives/managers!

    Approves of CEO
