I have been working at Lidl full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Retail business as a whole is doing better. Job security is guaranteed in the medium and long range provided you are a hard worker.

    Cons

No work Life balance at all. Excruciating hours of work. Chances of growth very rare.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Transparency on internal promotions. It should be controlled via the Head Office rather than a single person calling the shots all the time. Upward and downward movement of staff should be scrutinized in order to detect racial and personal discrimination.

I worked at Lidl full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

worked with a good team. Reasonable pay (but on the con sie, you really do have to work for it!)

    Cons

hard work. lots of unpaid overtime. sucks if you're working a close as you can't leave until the store is tidy, some days doesn't take long but on a busy day you can be there 2 hours later, particularly if there are specials to put out. When i worked there inventory evry 6ish weeks was done manually, cue late nights (11pm) and early mornings (5am) to count up the stock by hand. This may have changed by now though!

Current Employee - HQ Job in Sofia (Bulgaria)

I have been working at Lidl

    Pros

    - well paid job especially for Bulgarian standards
    - very good benefits, such as mobile phone, company car, 25 days holiday for employees at management level

    Cons

    - keeping extremely formal relationship with colleagues favoured
    - mainly suitable employees promoted
    - often not asked to think, but to perform
    - a lot of overtime which is not compensated
    - liaisons between colleagues are not tolerated
    - cameras everywhere in the HQ as if participating in Big Brother
    - layoffs happen overnight

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should realise that you are working with human beings not robots; show more respect and gratefulness to your staff; a simple "Thank you" for well done jobs will work
