    Pros

High growth industry. Some products can transform lives in a very positive way to end customers

    Cons

Chaotic environment due to unclear responsabilities, org structure, etc

    Advice to Management

Hurry to take best practices and make any necessary changes by considering long term action plans. Don't focus too much on wall street or short term initiatives.

    Pros

Good hours my Co workers were very helpful.

    Cons

Horrible management going to the cooler to the freezer wasn't any fun. It was hard to meet the quota when there were so many people in both rooms.I got yelled at because a product was in a wrong spot and it was a problem and I addressed it only to get yelled at for it then I was laid off later that day. Before we started the so called management went over the quotas and filled out a chart. I thought we were in a kindergarten class.

    Advice to Management

There shouldn't be any time on getting the product. People work in different pace and people who work hard but not as fast shouldn't be fired. Hire mangers that know what the hell there doing and treat people with respect. Get rid of the temp company hire full-time employees.

    Pros

    * Wonderful peers in my business area with highly collaborative spirit * Cutting edge technologies are fun to work with

    Cons

    * Too many organizational changes (starting long before the Thermo Fisher acquisition) make it difficult to gain traction with direct manager who is often key to career growth and promotions * Leaders centralize decision making to high levels of the organization, making it difficult for employees to make a positive impact on the company's strategy * Managers often seem to be more interested in gaining power than doing the right thing for the business * Short-term focus on financial results often leads to failure to capitalize on longer-term strategies or to put the customer first in the business relationship * Divisions are more apt to compete with each other rather than collaborate to create innovations, which is at odds with the stated culture of the company

    Pros

At one time I'm told Life Technologies, Thermo Fisher or whatever they are calling themselves this week was a great place to work. Had great benefits and pay.

    Cons

Too much employee turnover. They "lay people off" for no good reason other than to cut expenses but mostly for petty reasons. Management could care less about their employees and they foster an enviroment of enabling employees to "sell each other out" by informing on them to further their own careers.

    Advice to Management

If you cant manage to learn to treat your employees decenty, please resign so new management can take over. As it stands now most of you in addition to the human resources dept. at our site is horrible.

    Pros

Your interview was a great opportunity for Us to learn more about or competitors! Thank you. You could get the chance to work with a technology that is in high demand and can lead to better career opportunities. No guarantees, though, and no training either. You are unusual if you are hired for something you haven't already done. There is a defined severance package for current Life Technologies employees for the acquisition.

    Cons

Communication of essential knowledge is weaponized as a defense against layoff. Corporate culture pools bonuses within business divisions. Managers sit in a meeting to decide who gets what. This fostered a nasty competitive instead of a healthy competitive environment over many years and the resulting politics are vicious. HR is not there for employees, but they may put on a good show of support for you because that is what management wants them to do.

    Advice to Management

Keep counting your days until the big payoff and putting on a good veneer of "business as usual".

    Pros

Able to contribute to cutting edge science that benefits all mankind.

    Cons

Local caste system fostered rather than discouraged.

    Advice to Management

You can't fake genuineness. Corporate doesn't seem to care about employee satisfaction. Annual surveys point to same problems year over year without change. Employee development and training has become non-existent. This is problematic for a cutting edge biotech company. Corporate initiatives too often, and not sustained. Real change can't be effected because entrenched people wait it out. History has shown that it will soon change to some new thing.

    Pros

Not a whole lot positive going for them, particularly at the Frederick,MD distribution site. I'm sure some of those in other departments who make six figure salaries are reasonably happy though.

    Cons

Too many incompetant supervisors and "wannabe" bosses. Frederick Distribution management and the Human Resources reps at the same site have little to no integrity. Constant changes in procedures make it very difficult if not impossible to achieve quotas, yet they somehow manage to blame the employee over something they are responsible for causing.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating you're employees like garbage, stop catering to the butt kissing yes men who fawn over you because believe me, if you knew what they REALLY say about you you'd need therapy to overcome the insecurity you would experience.

    Pros

Occasionally come up with great ideas, but they change direction and do the exact opposite of what the idea they came up with in the first place.

    Cons

Same as above in Pros, but when they change direction/procedures they dont communicate to employees and have nerve to lecture/reprimand you for something they failed to tell you. Also very little compassion or concern for their employees.

    Advice to Management

Learn to talk to your employees properly, stop treating temp employees like dirt.

    Pros

Fast paced For professional gorwth, access to tools and programs that large companies like Life can afford Nice cafeteria and gym

    Cons

Incompetent and highly political leaders that stab each other on the back No incentive to grow Bad benefits and salaries Bad HR support No incentive to grow Highly stressful environment, lots of pressure on employees with high targets

    Advice to Management

Get rid of those leaders that are crassly incompetent and have been around for a long time thanks to their political strongholds
