OK place to work

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group

ProsCo-workers are nice. Middle management is generally respectful of needs of employees. Pay is fair.

ConsVery cliquey and political, especially as you advance into management. In many respects, if you are not inside, you're OUTSIDE. Recognition of work life balance seems to be declining sharply. We average at least one significant reorg every two years. Systems are dated with little recognition of that from management.

Advice to Senior ManagementLess emphasis on form, more on function.

Not a bad place to work in the Concord Are / Poor Salary

Manager (Current Employee)
Concord, NH

I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group

Prosdecent work/life balance
401k match is almost unbeatable
nice "campus"

Constoo many senior leaders with no clear vision
merit pool has been horrible the past three or so years
AIP (bonus) gets a lot of attention but at the end of the day, it's a 5% on average bonus if you are lucky! Senior Leaders care about it because they get a much bigger piece of the pie (7.5%+ stock shares)

Advice to Senior Managementlook at poor performers at the management level and address the issues rather than eliminate jobs and push them to another team to create issues. Be more competitive in salary so we can have more effective workers! You pay for what you get.

Finance Internship (Current Employee)
Greensboro, NC

I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group

Pros- Get exposed to various field related assignments
- Team member are very polite
- Growth Opportunities
- Great Experience

Cons- Salary is a little low
- Don't pay for internships
- Have to have previous experience to know how to work in this field

Advice to Senior Management- Will be much better if the interns, at least, the ones with good performance, were compensated in some way.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group

Prosrecognition for good performance by management, great career opportunities, very good life - work balance, provides various training and development opportunities

Consstrict policies, outdated systems, old building with very bad ventilation and very old bathrooms, many employees are with the company for decades and some have issues to think outside the box.

Great way to gain experience in a well-rounded company.

Leadership Preparation Program (Current Employee)
Hartford, CT

I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group

ProsLincoln Financial has a true commitment to its employees and our customers. While not being the most outlandish company with guarantees, we compete by being innovative as well as having a strong foundation cemented in current market conditions.

Management treats employees with respect, gives people trust to do work, and does not micro-manage unless someone is not doing their job.

Pay is definitely good when including the nice benefits and respect of personal lives. Having regional offices provides an enjoyable, and necessary, diversion from the typical corporate America.

ConsWith a lot of reorganizations sometimes bureaucracy can get in the way of projects. At times, the path to succeed is muddled by the numerous divisions, lack of career oversight programs, and re-orgs.

Senior management does not clearly indicate goals or ways to achieve them. Middle-management does a nice job.

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunication needs to improve outside of daily tasks. Would enjoy understanding what is going on in different organizations.

Great, a lot of support to achieve

Intern (Current Employee)
Radnor, PA

I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group

ProsFrom my experience I feel like my work is valued and that people appreciate my help. I thrive on meaningful work

ConsThere is a long corporate chain to make it to the top which can make promotions seem like a long road

Advice to Senior ManagementThe management is very supportive and helpful when you need it. The deadlines are fast pace but that is an industry staple.

Prosgreat work/life balance and benefits package. Opportunity to grow within your career and will provide educational assistance. Teams are driven for success of the project/team/individual.

Conshiring process is long and somewhat challenging. Onboarding could be better but management is working on streamlining the process. Ability to create and drive change is there.

Mgmt wants to hire talent "outsiders" but do they really want the experience/knowledge if not home grown within company

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Omaha, NE

I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group

ProsPeople work together share processes, help each other. Good Attitudes team members work together

ConsPromotions not handled correctly Must be within the "circle". Mgmt clicks CYA, does not share info.

Advice to Senior ManagementFairness should be considered, selection of 1/2 people to excel consistently from mgmt. Opportunities minimum if not a "favorite"
