I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent independence and work environment. Great hands off managers. High level of talent within the workplace. Very quick to adapt to market changes. Good support of independent thinking and promotes continuous improvement in any means you would like to execute.

    Cons

Limited training opportunities and most of it is voluntary. I personally think training should be mandatory so everyone is on the same page.
Frequent organizational changes that are some times unecessary.
Heavy reliance on external consulting when the answer and solutions are already known by the operations/front line employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You hire some of the best people in the industry, but that doesn't mean they can rest on their laurels. Ramp up your training program for both sales and operations, especially internals.

    Cons

Leadership communication at times can be lacking. Lots of current growing pains but nothing serious.

Very typical company that is a large corporation.

I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group

    Pros

Great 401k plan and benefits. Has on site cafeteria and Starbucks. Lots of opportunity for advancement. Most of management has an "open door" policy.

    Cons

Contact Center is more focused on stats as opposed to the customer experience. They say they are focused on the customer experience but they equate that only to hold times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to all of your employees. They are the ones that speak to the customers. If their morale is down because of what management has put in place, change. Taking paid holidays away from employees really hurts morale (granted, when you are being paid 2 1/2 times your pay on a holiday, it helps). But when people make plans for a holiday and then 3 weeks before the holiday, they are told that they will be working, it really hurts morale.

    Pros

A company that truly tries to do what is right for the client while making a profit along the way. They do offer a good Work-Life Balance compared with other companies in the Financial Services Industry. Many individuals will work at Lincoln for 10+,20+,30+ and even 40+ years

    Cons

Lincoln will never pay top dollar

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You've weathered the financial storm of 2008, you corporate strategy appears to be on track. Keep up the good work.

    Pros

Nice, smart, interesting coworkers. Learned a lot. Challenging work. Latest technology. Good pay. Close access to highly likeable and responsive upper management. Good manager.

    Cons

The job is often extremely demanding, which can lead to a lot of stress and uncertainty. Then again we were managing lots of money in a volatile market.

I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Fair compensation and excellent benefits. The company home office employees were very knowledgeable and willing to provide support for the sales force.

    Cons

Expectation of job performance without providing proper training.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more consistent with expectations instead of changing direction with each change in manager.

More understanding when it comes to family obligations.

Manager used threat of dismissal easily. Unwilling to discuss the issues at hand. A better manager / sales force relationship would encourage more employee loyalty and better performance.

    No opinion of CEO
