Current Employee – been working at LinkedIn full-time for more than a year

ProsCulture is warm and inviting, open door policy at every level. Most employees have been here less than one year so everyone is welcoming of the new kid on the block.

ConsGrowing at a fast pace, new hires try to insert themselves and prove their value sometime screwing up the current process unnecessarily. Excessive emails and meetings.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to take a breather from hiring at the moment and allow current employees to find their way before bringing in new talent.

- Free food, ping pong tables, etc.
- Intelligent, motivated people who aren't a-holes
- Excellent, approachable leadership
- Lots of opportunity to really make a difference

- Typical Silicon Valley mentality of working more than your 40 hours/week

Cons- Still trying to get processes in place so sometimes run into frustrations
- Some people say its stock is over-valued
- Gym at HQ sucks
- Not as much free food in SF or other offices besides HQ
- Sales starting salary not great

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the exciting atmosphere and make sure you remember employees are your biggest asset. Without them, you wouldn't go anywhere.

ProsThere's a positive, inspirational culture and you work with some amazing people. Creativity is encouraged, and you can move around a lot. There isn't a hierarchical feeling. People are open to new ideas and dialogue.

ConsIt's hard to get a sense of strategic direction from Product leaders. It can be challenging to collaborate across product teams. People who like a lot of structure and certainty are likely to be unhappy here.

Prosstart up culture for a big company, good visibilities for people who actually work on the project. Super strong exec team.

ConsGetting bigger and seeing more politics. A lot of people coming from consulting firms only want to do strategic work without actually doing things

Advice to Senior ManagementStay nimble, award people who do the actual work. Maintain a flat hierachy

ConsThere are no current cons. LinkedIn is still on the early part of the growth curve which means dealing with ambiguous situations almost everyday. I personally love to work in this environment but I can see how some people might not...
