I worked at Lionsgate as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

I loved the people I worked with. Upper management was really friendly and willing to teach you. I always felt comfortable going in to ask questions. Very fun atmosphere with weekly showings of upcoming movies.

    Cons

It was hard to get to know interns/employees from other departments.

I worked at Lionsgate full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I was happy to be working with so many experienced people in the industry. I learned a lot during my tenure at the company.

    Cons

I wasn't at the company long enough, but it seems to be a challenge to move up the ranks quickly.

I worked at Lionsgate as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

The people there are very accessible. Willing to teach interns and the work was very challenging

    Cons

Wish there were more standard training. The executives are very busy, so the training part could have been better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A great place to work for, I really like the environment there

I have been working at Lionsgate full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

They almost always promote from within, so there's continuous opportunity for vertical movement. Working in the film business can be fun; you can go to free movie screenings. Also, you learn a lot. The relatively smaller staff gives you the change to take on new responsibilities, so it's a great place to learn.

    Cons

Since there is a smaller staff, the opportunity to learn a lot is tempered by the volume of work assigned to one person. More responsibility means more volume and higher expectations

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to cater your management style to the personality or demeanor of your direct reports. Yelling is effective for some people, others not so much.

I have been working at Lionsgate full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Winter break, fun small perks of working for entertainment

    Cons

Working long hours is a cultural thing. No one really needs to work as much as they do. A lot of time wasting here to appear like you are working.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your employees instead of acting like they are replaceable. Pay them a fair rate.

I have been working at Lionsgate as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

The staff is amazing. All are willing to bend over backwards to help you learn any and all aspects of the company. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere that is extremely efficient but it feels like everyone is your friend and not just co-worker.

    Cons

The only con is long hours at the office and off clock hours. However, the work that you are doing is very interesting so if you are interested in what their company does you will actually enjoy the long hours.

I worked at Lionsgate as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

    - Very friendly and helpful employees that want you to succeed
    - Brush shoulders with very creative people on a daily basis
    - Great opportunity to develop a taste for writing style and format
    - Good intern community at the company

    Cons

    - Workload as a development intern can get monotonous (script coverage) but to be expected
    - Unpaid intern position, few perks beyond experience

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Interact more with lower level employees. It is great to know you are there, but it would be nice to have more of a mentorship element

    Pros

+Very friendly and considerate managers. All about giving advice and helping interns understand the business---including scripted, unscripted, and finance.
+A good size of interns (around 12) so you have a community as well.
+Company is really gaining momentum after 'Hunger Games' great time to enter the company.

    Cons

+Interns are unpaid, though this is true at many companies.
+Can be intense, though this is Hollywood.

Former Employee - International Business Intern in Santa Monica, CA

I worked at Lionsgate as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Great, relaxed environment. Many cool perks, since it's an entertainment company, such as film festivals, seeing celebrities, etc.

    Cons

Sometimes felt that my work wasn't very relevant, as they made me do lots of useless paperwork. The communication was lacking sometimes as well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Delegate better, communicate more
