    Intern

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsThe people are really nice and easygoing. I barely had to stay late - basically 9-5 job.

ConsThere's way too much gossip and drama (but then again, most companies are like this). Also, the work is too relaxed. Everyone spends a lot of time chit chatting rather than doing actual work.

Advice to Senior ManagementDuring my time, I've seen many people come and go. I really wish Liz Claiborne retained those who actually provided their time and effort in the company.

    No work life balance!

Store Manager (Former Employee) Los Angeles, CA

ProsGood benefits package. You can use your employee discount at other Liz Claiborne owned brands.
    Compensation was decent.

ConsPoor training, corporate makes lots of mistakes with marketing, payroll, etc.

Advice to Senior ManagementBetter training program from corporate office to field managers, to store team.

Liz Claiborne, a company that has seen better days

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsGreat place for entry level individuals to start, but not great growth potential from that point on.
The company fails to recognize their internal employees versus hiring from outside.

ConsBenefits are not in line with other corporations

Advice to Senior ManagementThe need to recognize talent and reward them as necessary

    Not bad for first job.

Sales Associate (Former Employee) Tallahassee, FL

ProsLiz Claiborne offers a competitive wage when compared to competitors. Also, the store staff is very small, so minimal mistakes and communication errors are made.

ConsStill, there is very bad communication with senior level management. Employee politics occur and are unfair if you don't "play the game".

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease pay more attention to your employees and watch out for store managers that are taking advantage of the system.

ProsThe company is large enough that you can interview for positions in other divisions in order to grow.

ConsCurrently the economy has made it difficult.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt is importnat to listen to everyone's ideas. You never know where the next fresh idea will come from.

    just trying to get numbers

Production Specialist (Former Employee) New York, NY

Prosthe benefits are good - also there are many different brands, so you can move within the company and have possible growth within.

Consthe company is too corporate - sometimes its hard to get around the bureaucracy than to get things done.

Advice to Senior Managementit is best to get to know your all of your team members and people within your division.

Corporate company with big names and no leadership

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsGreat connections to various areas of the fashion world. There are many small divisions within the company where people can network and learn more about all fields. There are really supportive programs that allow employees to give back to the community and a library of information to continue learning.

ConsProductivity is hard to accomplish without the right tools. The computer programs used are extremely out of date, and wastes so much time and money. Instead of pushing people to work harder, LC needs to recognize those who have and reward them!

Advice to Senior ManagementMake more investments in technology, promote better communication within divisions.

Not so bad not so great...

    Merchandise Planner (Former Employee)

ProsLiz Claiborne was a good place to work because of it's business but the company is a sinking ship - check out it's stock price and you'll see why. not sure the CEO knows what he's doing but the company is all over the place in some areas but extremely great when it comes to systems and getting work done (versus other retail companies)

ConsVery, very, very disorganized and all over the place - and not a stable company at the present moment in time

Advice to Senior ManagementIt's not really the leaderships fault it's been very disorganized for a very long time and has been spread out too thing...

Liz is rolling over in her grave.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsBenefits are excellent, 1st supervisor excellent, job was awesome, but business was good then.

ConsWhen Bill McComb came on board everything changed. Bad leadership. Company is going in the wrong direction. Work place is great, but the top people like Bill's friends he hired are making bad business decisions and it shows.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop cutting costs to make product cheap. Leave China production co. It can be great again, but needs strong apparel leadership.
