I worked at Lockheed Martin as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Great company to work for, they give you meaningful projects and don't make you feel like an intern. Very organized intern program, given a supervisor and "buddy" on the first day to help ease the transition. Everyone is very helpful and treat interns well.

    Cons

Low starting salary unless you get into leadership development programs.

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Lots of great opportunities if you work hard and put yourself out there. High expectations which helps ensure people are pulling their weight and doing a good job.

    Cons

The outlook can be tough because there isn't a lot of new work at some locations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to have high expectations but remember folks need some work life balance.

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

In 2007, it was announced that the division I had transferred down to Greenville, SC, for (ISSP) was being relocated out of state. All 135(?) employees were offered either a very generous relocation or staying through to the end package. Our director watched out for us. She had made provisions for: 1. Relocation, bringing the Chamber of Commerce from the destination city in to meet with us and discuss what housing was available, answer any questions we may have had, plus offered a generous relocation package; 2. Trips to the destination city so we could see what the area was like and determine for ourselves if it would be a good fit (all gratis); 3. An excellent bonus for those who decided to stay through to the end; and 4. Invited the local Unemployment Office to meet with those of us who stayed to answer any questions. If that doesn't say "we care" I don't know what does.

    Cons

Because they were so encompassing in what they provided for us in the Division's move, except for normal daily job concerns that are bound to come up at times, no matter where you work, I have nothing but admiration for this management team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You had a great representative in place who worked for both LM's best interest and LM's displaced workforce. I know I, for one, felt taken care of. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

    I worked at Lockheed Martin

    Pros

Cutting edge interesting work, great co-workers and management. Family friendly, OT when you want. Flexible hours. A company that you feel proud to work for, will try and keep you employed for as long as possible during government budget cuts.

    Cons

LMCO's industry is sensitive to defense cuts so layoff rumors are always present so job security isn't great but then again it isn't great anywhere these days.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't forget to recall people who were laid-off if and when contracts pick up again at a particular location.

I worked at Lockheed Martin as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

I was surrounded by talented colleagues and was given responsibility immediately. I learned just as much from those around me as I did through the work itself.

    Cons

The company is enormous, which provides ample opportunity for different positions, but the corporate red tape is apparent for some basic tasks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep doing what you're doing.

I worked at Lockheed Martin as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

I loved having every other Friday off, so work life balance was great. The people who worked at the plant were extremely nice. It made going to work everyday great.

    Cons

It was a smaller sized plant but talking to employees, there are still great opportunities to grow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the great work culture
