I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

There were numerous exciting engineering projects to participate in. A good mentorship program helped me advance my abilities. Free coffee (2006-2009)

    Cons

Poor salary with a confusing and biased performance/advancement metric. Terrible healthcare benefits starting in 2009. Corporate took away free coffee in 2009.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Lockheed Martin apparently looks great on a resume?

    Cons

I'm not really sure how to express how completely disgusted I am with Lockheed. Complete and total disregard for company policy, cronyism, sabotage ... the list goes on, truly. I've met some really great people since starting here over 6yrs ago - they're all gone. This place is like a settling tank. I overheard my manager tell a prospective employee, "Most of our good employees are gone after 2-3yrs." ?! He had, at this point, been here for 5yrs himself.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get it together. Get rid of the cliques. Wear clean clothes. Learn how to form a complete sentence and support your staff. You preach Diversity, Inclusion, Do the Right Thing and Perform with Excellence... c'mon guys, it's not that hard. Be what you say you are.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Some work is interesting but it depends on the project. Most of the work was to fix errors and consequenses of not following procedures.

    Cons

If you have a bad boss, get a new job. Bosses do not have the ability to manage people. Company promotes highly inadequate managers. Most of the employees are not satisfied with their bosses....from micromanaged to completely ignored. Bosses only interested in what it will do for them personally. Bosses do not support their staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have the employees give you your annual rating. Take an interest in and take care of loyal employees.

    Pros

Decent money, but you have to sell your soul to the devil to survive there.

    Cons

Absolutely the worst aircraft company in the history of the world. Management is so stupid they couldn't figure out how to build a paper airplane if they had to.

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

None. The union has made sure that all the same people who have worked the same positions for 40+ years will never leave. Senior management was a joke.

    Cons

Union has sucked all talent and motivation from most employees. A "that'll do" attitude is VERY prevalent. Newbies get treated like animals, then are first to be let go in layoff situations. Very lazy and dishonest senior workforce, led by an equally lazy and dishonest management. Health insurance was crazy expensive for almost no real coverage. Salaried employees rarely showed up, if at all. Hourly were expected to volunteer for overtime or risk losing their jobs. A very backward company, watching out for the bottom dollar rather than the workforce.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lose all the freeloaders. Hire new people that have RELEVENT talent, and will actually work. Get rid of all the lazy supervisors. Treat your employees like people and not numbers.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Interesting work
    Good employees
    Good prospects for future work
Employees keep performing at high levels despite the fact top management keep takig benefits and supressing wages

    Cons

This company just keeps taking from employees to serve shareholders and executives. Benefits keep getting worse and pay is lower than competitors. The last thing keeping me here, the pension, just changed and now looks like after ten years I will be in the market for a job soon. For the last six years the employees have heard the same mantra "due to difficult market conditions" blah blah we're not going to give decent raises and we are cutting your benefits while they will cost you more. This last carrot, tbe pension, will be frozen for pay in 2016 and years accrual in 2020. Thanks miss Hewson, I hope you enjoy all your money while we underligs start to explore the job market.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about your employees. We make you the money. Watch for the mass exodus beginning in 2016.

    Pros

    Weekly pay.
    Interesting work.
Encouraged to look for other jobs within the company.

    Cons

3 different managers all in different states from my work location.
Assessment of work is a joke when your managers don't really see what you are working on.
The higher up I moved in the company the less I found myself doing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring people for jobs due to their high qualifications only to give them menial work.
