I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Very diverse environment and great place to learn. There is a great work-life balance and flexible hours.

    Cons

No upward mobility. There is a lot of process and documentation that you must go through to get the smallest things changed, although the processes that needs changing, is to better process improvement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would like for management to have some type of idea of what tasks and daily processes the "worker bees" complete. We are judged by performance against our peers but if management doesn't have an idea what you do (besides what you tell them) how can they fend for you to get a raise when they are just reading your words.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Lockheed Martin is an industry leader who values their employees ideas and innovation.

    Cons

In Oklahoma City, there isn't a large representation of Lockheed employees so it is harder to get a job and also promotions in this area. If you are willing to relocate it makes it easier.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The one thing I would like to see changes with at Lockheed is the LM Commit system. LM Corporate should poll the field level managers and get their input regarding the system and how it could have a more positive impact for employees.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time

    Pros

There is nothing this company can't do. You truly work with the pinnacle of Engineering talent and the feats that we accomplish are incredible. If it's cutting edge technology, we do it here.

    Cons

Work/Life balance is VERY poor. Long hours with small 3% per year raises.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop worrying about Stock Prices and get back to the fundamentals about Engineering great products. Treat employees like human beings, not assets.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin as a contractor

    Pros

Great oppurtunities to grow with in the company. Positive leadership who communicates well. All of your management really seems to want to help there employees.

    Cons

Despite my short time with the company. I would say there aren't many cons. The salary is very competitive in terms of what other sub contractors are currently paying. Also lockheed offers great benifits.

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Very good company to work for. Good location.

    Cons

I didn't expect to be laid off after almost 14 years with the company but there were layoffs due to decreased government funding.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you know a person is going to be laid off, tell them when you find out about it and don't wait until the day you are going to walk him/her out. This would give them a chance to search for a different job instead of being out in the cold. The past Christmas was the worst I ever had because we didn't have any money for gifts and we didn't even have any food.
