    Teacher Assistant

    Teacher Assistant (Current Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsI like working with LAUSD because it give you the chance for promotions. You don't have to stay with the position you start with, and the different locations.

ConsWell, working with different locations, that mean different personalities. Some time you work with people that don't have the same principle that hard work is intrinsically virtuous or worthy of reward. However, working with this company there are people who work with children that don't need to be working with them.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen having people working for your company, you need to know your employers.

    Teacher

    Early Education Teacher (Current Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsGreat place to obtain work experience.

ConsAdministration is out of touch with the needs of the class room, too many budget cuts.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide personal growth and training to staff to obtain job placement and stop state testing, which is time lost for teacher and students. Time can be used preparing students for success.

"School Nurses work hard for their Money".

    School Nurse (Former Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsThe nursing administration at Los Angeles Unified Schools is very supportive of their school nurses and continually 'go to bat ' for them. The hours worked daily and the amount of vacation time permits the school nurse to persue other activities/employment in addition to this full-time position.

ConsThe compenation is definitely the biggest con of working in this school district. There is also an atmosphere of distrust and a lack of respect for the children and their families.

Advice to Senior ManagementPromote more trusting environment.

    Large system but great

    PSAC Intern (Current Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsOrganization is great. Well organized, prepared and many resources available. Some school have many opportunities and resources available. its easy to start due to their organization ability that provides a guide.

ConsImpersonal, have to fight the system in order to advocate for students. There is so much too do that it can feel overwhelming. Despite the resources there isn't enough to help the wide range and high magnitude of need. it can take a toll.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake time to get to know the employees and to see how everything is going.

Great job: fun, rewarding and great for college students.

    T A (Current Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsGet to work with kids, work load is light and schedule is not too demanding. You also get holidays and summers off. Great if you're wanting to have a second job on the side.

ConsNo room for growth. No upward mobility or anything to look forward to, unless youre pursuing a career in teaching. Easy for people to get stuck in this position since the responsibilities do not always transfer well to other jobs.
