Former Employee – worked at Lowe's part-time for more than a year
Pros – Decent Pay, fun place, GO!! Jimmy Johnson...
Cons – political...it matters if you work in a store full of young college students when you are in your 40s. No one is really nice to you. There is also a lot of drama, as expected, with the young crowd.
Advice to Senior Management – Hire more responsible people!!

Current Employee – been working at Lowe's full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Good benefits, even for those who are part-time. Depending on your position and department, usually flexible scheduling opportunities.
Cons – Similar to above: depending on your position and department, sometimes not as much schedule flexibility.
Vacation requests are sometimes a chore to deal with, especially if it's for a week long. Managers never seem to have a problem being approved for a week long vacation, but associates are often snubbed in comparison. (my HR has already been on 3 different week-long vacations so far this year, but I have yet to use any of my 3 weeks vacation and it's still hard to get mine approved).
Advice to Senior Management – 1) Realize that when you assign tasks, you need to divvy them out amongst the department associates more evenly and not always rely on one or two to do them all (me being one of them). 2) Please realize that some tasks take longer than you think they should (due to constant interruptions helping customers).
3) And since customer service is always our number one priority (as management likes to say, "No task is more important than helping a customer"), don't get mad if tasks aren't done, because 9 times out of 10 it's due to customer service or the task being assigned at the end of someone's shift (which happens often), not negligence.
4) More recently, scheduling has been an issue. It's our "100 days of Spring", our busiest time of year, yet management has failed to fill in positions lost due to quitters or department transfers; and consequently, the lack of scheduling skills has resulted in a skeleton crew on busy days and too many people on slow days and/or closing shift.

Current Employee – been working at Lowe's full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Steady employment, benefits and set schedule. Low end management generally easy to work with.
Cons – Hard labor, some risk factors ie height, traffic and sprains. Number driven not results receive poor scores and managaement will pressure you to speed-up. The incentive to receive bonus money for speed causes many team members to take short-cuts and leaves work for those that would rather do the right thing than go fast.
Advice to Senior Management – review the time given for job based on not only number but type of work by size and weight. Harder to do 20lb 7'X4' than 50 lb 3'X3'.

Current Employee – been working at Lowe's full-time for less than a year
Pros – Close to home, so I was excited to go on an interview. I was expecting at least $15 / hour.
Cons – On the interview, I felt like a number and not a person. I am actually really easy to get along with, but they didn't really seem to care about ME, only about the stupid questions on their paper. I had an interview with the HR manager and the Store Manager. They took turns asking me interview questions and never commented on my answers. They both wrote down everything I said, instead of asking me additional questions or making comments. I was very disappointed after the interview. I felt like they had to give so many interviews for the position, so they just wanted it over with.
Advice to Senior Management – Make people feel like people and not like a number. I think it's mandatory for the company to have 3 interviews from the outside, even though they don't want too. I believe a person that was already there got the position. If you're going to hire on the inside, why waste everybody else's time?

Former Employee – worked at Lowe's part-time for more than a year
Pros – Guaranteed hours, great employees, nice environment, room for promotion, employees benefits and discounts,
Cons – Late Night, Demands all your time (pretty much every day and hour of the day)
Not much accountability of duties
Advice to Senior Management – More accountability of duties is needed. More department manager - department worker communication. More guidelines for training and procedures in the different department around the store
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
