I have been working at Lufthansa full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    - strong brand which is recognized all over the world, employees identify themselves with the 'crane'
    - great safety culture, aircraft are well maintained
    - diverse job families within the corporation and possibilities to change jobs between companies
    - good benefits, but they are becoming more and more limited

    Cons

    - Corporate culture is too "German"
    - too much time goes by before decisions are made due to the need for general consent for every decision
    - cost measures are often questionable, lots of opportunities for cost-savings go by because they are not pushed enough
    - only few international managers or employees from different industries in headquarters
    - not innovative and cost-effective enough to withstand emerging competitors
    - limited career development possibilities for women (on paper yes, but not in real life)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lufthansa has to become more diverse to stay attractive as an employer. Management has communicate more effectively to get employees to stand behind their strategy.

I have been working at Lufthansa

    Pros

Lufthansa offers alot of learning opportunities. Very good and high standard trainings are also offered to qualified personnel

    Cons

German speaking is necassary in order to move up in the food chain. In Germany, International employees face the big challenge as the German corporate culture is very conservative.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lufthansa should be more international then German

I worked at Lufthansa full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Amazing flight benefits
    Very friendly envionment
Good opportunity to learn customer service skills
It's perfect if you want to get some experience in a multinational and enjoy travelling around the world

    Cons

Salary is very low, almost minimum wage
You're treated like a slave (management has no interest in giving you a good work/life balance, if you need time off you have to beg and it's never confirmed until the last minute; if you leave your desk to go to the toilet/canteen, there's a 'timer' and at the end of the month you get a small bonus if you haven't left your desk for too long!!!)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management has to start respecting his employees

I worked at Lufthansa as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Great airline to star. The amount Luft spends to make things better all the way from checkin to operations is just great cause it makes life easier for the employee and thus making things easier for the end customer

    Cons

Working in the night and also the fact that Luft had quashed the permanent employee scenario.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dont use a service provider ever!

I have been working at Lufthansa

    Pros

Employees are extremely proud to be "Lufthanseats". The management has a good vision and the right controls over the company. The company offers opportunities in multiple locations and business divisions (passenger airline, MRO, cargo, catering, etc.). Friendly and can-do atmosphere at the MRO and cargo divisions.

    Cons

This pertains to the administrative jobs (as opposed to pilots, flight attendants, and gate and check-in staff). The culture in the passenger airline is not very pleasant. The people are not as helpful, may be considered a bit arrogant, and about advancing themselves - even if it involves back-stabbing others. The pay is low even by airline standards. Some projects can be run in an overly complex way making matrix organizations look simple in comparison.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep moving forward with reducing the structural overhead costs, but please compensate the fewer people better. Try to keep the many business units entrepreneurial and please fix the "Passage" culture!

    Approves of CEO
