I worked at Lumber Liquidators full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great pay, easy work, and they promote from within. Most run their own store within two years of getting hired.

    Cons

10-12 hour work days, consistent stress, lots of apologizing to customers due to delayed services.

I have been working at Lumber Liquidators

    Pros

Good pay. The hours are comparatively good for retail.

    Cons

A decent chunk of your pay is a bonus. There are not enough employees to cover the store most of the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow stores to hire part time employees. Even if they are only going to work 20 hours a week they would be helpful.

I have been working at Lumber Liquidators

    Pros

Great benefits, one plan is free for you and the family. 401K match is offered. Without a degree, this job will pay you.

    Cons

Retail hours, weekends a must. Not a lot of employees per store makes taking time off difficult. But thats retail sometimes. Call center is the other side of this coin.

I have been working at Lumber Liquidators full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay's well, casual dress code, freedom on how you manage your time and priorites, new challenges, days go by fast, and good benefits.

    Cons

Can get very stressful at times due to constant growth with minimal support. Very lean corporate structure leaving one position with several additional duties. If you are an effective worker they will find additional projects for you to manage with minimal pay increase. Often unable to use all the paid time off given due to deadlines causing work fatigue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize the harder corporate workers with bonuses and increase in pay. There are unbalances of the amount of responsibilities and challenges yet some are paid more due to seniority.

I have been working at Lumber Liquidators

    Pros

I really like how relaxed Lumber Liquidators is. There's a lot of autonomy and freedom, dress is always casual and there the company is growing so there is a lot of opportunity to move upwards.

    Cons

Sometimes employees abuse the relaxed atmosphere and focus more on social pursuits than doing their work. Sometimes there's a task right in front of everyone's face that needs to be done and would help everyone in the company but no one puts in the extra effort to do it, because it might go unrecognized or is just not worth the effort.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work to keep the good things about the environment, but seek to limit autonomy when it is necessary for productivity.

I have been working at Lumber Liquidators full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Progressive , growing company in a strong industry. Very demanding and stressful at time, but that prepares you for advancement if you are willing to learn. Great top down leadership.

    Cons

Very little opportunity to advance unless you are willing to move. Some things get lost as they make their way down from top management. You have to want to pay attention to be aware of all the training policy communication.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the growth strategy, just be aware that a growth ceiling will come and be ready for it. Keep promoting from within.

I have been working at Lumber Liquidators full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good place to work while single. Good pay but long hours bc of skeleton crews.

    Cons

Long hours and every weekend. If you don't mind messing witj LOADs of different goals this is a great job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try the field work before harping on things that simply cant be accomplished.

I have been working at Lumber Liquidators

    Pros

Consitantly Working Forty or More Hours Per Week
    Sales Based Monthly Comission
Good Benefits Including Health Dental and 401K
    Fast Paced Workdays

    Cons

    Low Hourly Pay
    At Times Boring
Inconsistacy of Store Staff Impacts All of the Team Directly
Sometimes Impossible Sales Goals Set for Stores
Some Colleagues Skate By On the Coattails of Stronger Employees
Takes Forever to Terminate Dead Weight Employees That Don't Steal

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Raise base pay rates for store staff by giving more raises to those employees that consistantly show improvement and desire to run a successful store.
