    Pros

    Co-workers! Supervisors were very supportive!

    Cons

    -Confusing direction from management
-Hostile tactics to motivate case managers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Use positive encouragement across the board. Pay workers what they are worth. Refrain from making contracts with counties that are impossible to meet.

    Pros

Pay was good, that's all that was good

    Cons

You sit there and do nothing because they have no work. they keep you busy and when they dont need you anymore then they tell manpower cut you loose and they give lame excuses to get rid of you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your head out of your butt. Don't overhire just to let people go. There are no morals at this company whatsoever.

    Pros

you are helping the confused public sign up for affordable health care so helping the consumer is a great feeling.

    Cons

supervisors are constantly riding you to take more calls, mostly the supervisors don't know the answer to the question you are asking and they just leave you hanging to make up something to tell the consumer, benefits are awful, $2500.00 deductible on medical. We were told when we were hired that the contract was good for 2 years so we all thought we had jobs for 2 years after 6 months 1800 of us were let go. They kept 200 and they were the csrs that were hired first, they did not keep any of us that had high call counts, great customer service reviews, and great phone monitoring by the supervisor, and never missed a day of work. None of what they pushed us for counted on keeping our jobs. Every csr is paid the same yet the supervisors had their favorites that got away with just about anything they could come up with including not showing up for work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More kudos need to be given to the employees that are being constantly yelled at by the consumer. Overtime should be done at the csrs' own pod not someone elses that makes it close to impossible to obtain your email and most communication comes from email. Also weekends should be done at csrs' own pod not someone elses'. You have to clean someone elses' pod just to work at it. Maximus gives the impression it doesn't care about the employee, the employee is just a person taking calls making their numbers look good. Stop telling lies to the employees, tell it like it is, the employees are adults. The kudos line never works for the csr to get a customer review. Need to have dual monitors to work on so scripts are easier to pull up and read.

I have been working at MAXIMUS full-time for less than a year

    Pros

There really are no good reasons to accept work at Maximus. If you have ANY other options, you should take them and run from this company as fast as you can!

    Cons

Leadership really knows nothing about the business they are running. Leaders possess little or extremely poor communication skills and treat their people poorly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace your senior leadership in this location as they are not managing the project successfully. There is a lack of even the basic organizational structure, the HR department is not responsive and is completely ineffective and leadership has no knowledge of call center operations so they can't correct any outstanding issues due to fear of their bosses finding out they don't know anything. They "tweak" the contractually required operation metrics in order to show they met the contract requirements when they did not. The entire organization is disgruntled, unhappy and most are looking for ways to get out. Turnover is very high and increasing daily while the senior executives bury their heads in the sand to avoid taking responsibility. Time for a complete overhaul of this operation.

I have been working at MAXIMUS full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Decent pay. It was a good opportunity to be a part of a brand new call center ramping up and starting from the beginning. The majority of the people you work with are great. You truly are helping people in the community and changing lives, so big picture is important.

    Cons

Leadership is very biased, favortism is rampant. The company has no problem lying about what is going on. There is no guarantee of a job.... there is always the threat of "losing the contract" and the center shutting down. High up leadership is constantly changing so there is no consistency. Metrics focus changes weekly. Morale is very very low throughout the center. Getting promoted has nothing to do with your ability, just who you are friends with in leadership.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Showing some appreciation once in awhile will go a long way. All anyone ever hears is the negative, which is why everyone is so miserable. Any and all attempts to show appreciation thus far have been empty... try to muster some genuine appreciation and show it. Please stop promoting based on friendships, you've lost all credibility.

I have been working at MAXIMUS full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I can't think of any perks to this job.

    Cons

Maximus is the worst job that I have ever had. They are always hiring and firing temps because they over hire and fire when there is no work. Supervisors have no backbones. Team leads are lazy and always trying to pass the buck, if you ask a question 99% of the time they say, ""I don't know". They are obsessed with errors when the training is inadequate. Everyone always look miserable there. Supervisors think there are so important and better than everyone else. Stay away from Maximus if you want a stable job. There are always rumors about losing contracts, and when you try to address it with management they just deny it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire team leads who know what is going on.

    Pros

Colleagues were the only silver lining.

    Cons

Told everyone during interviews that contract was for 36 months, and then after 8, laid off 90% of workforce. Reclassified training department in a retaliatory fashion by cutting wages and worsening benefits package. Horribly hostile work environment, even Human Capital couldn't be trusted with day to day issues. I would not wish for my worst enemy to be employed here, and if they were, at least it wouldn't be for long.

    Pros

I really enjoyed working with people and helping them sort out problems.

    Cons

Company promised employees benefits and then took 1/2 of them away. The Department of Labor is very unhappy with the way this company handled itself.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When you promise employees certain benefits, minimum 2 year employment, for giving up a job to come to work there and then lay them off after 7 months.

I worked at MAXIMUS full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Pros: upward mobility as long as you are willing to move. Exec leadership implementing sound strategies, middle management (Director and up) does not seem to understand the tools necessary to make these goals a reality.

    Cons

Horribly mismanaged, incredibly micromanaged--but with an inconsistent vision among middle management. Result: Often too many 'cooks in the kitchen', if you will.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a detailed project plan in place and communicate that plan to front line management.

I have been working at MAXIMUS for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Pretty good parking, most days.

    Cons

Cheap politics. No one knows whether they will be there from day to day. Management absolutely does not communicate what is going on. People feel stressed, unsatisfied and unmotivated. No support from the management, not even a pat on the back, EVER! So sad. There are some workers that are incredibly talented, professional, but will never be noticed. Huge turnover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you take care of your people, they will take care of you. You should really try communicating to those you manage. Very poor support from you managers.
