    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too much bureaucracy. The DISCOVER system is absolutely ridiculous.

    Rudderless, politically charged executive leadeship

I have been working at MD Anderson Cancer Center full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

If you make it to the executive leadership level, there are very few checks and balances. Many opportunities to benefit personally from the institution given siz and lack of transparency.

    Cons

Highly political. Loyalty rewarded rather than ability. Ethics are a punchline rather than a quality for executives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't let anyone from UT System or the Board of Regents investigate. What appears in the Cancer Letter or the Houston Chronicle is only the tip of the iceberg at MD Anderson.

I have been working at MD Anderson Cancer Center full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

great place to start your career (and continue!). great wellness center..its free. everyone seems to be nice so far and there is a lot of work to jump in on. you will not be bored if you work here.

    Cons

Parking is expensive like all TMC organizations. Compensation could be updated to reflect cost of living increase in Houston.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider readjusting compensation to reflect the rising cost of living in Houston. Employees (non-physician) will have to move south or west to afford housing. this will cause long commutes and dissatisfied employees. The only other option would be to implement a shuttle service like Mayo clinic (Minneapolis to Rochester). It has wifi and is extremely discounted for employees. This would solve parking issues and decrease the demand for higher compensation.

I have been working at MD Anderson Cancer Center full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Pros include the ability for growth within the company and the benefits were great! Plus there is a gym that employees can use that is free of charge!

    Cons

I hated paying for parking, that was my biggest issue. Also certain supervisors/managers do not want to see you grow so don't expect a hand out!

I have been working at MD Anderson Cancer Center full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    benefits. nothing else besides that.

    Cons

    low pay.
parking. I just got hired on yesterday and they tell us I have to walk to my building which is outside more than a block away. if it rains they said carry an umbrella. NONE of this was told to me before I accepted a position there. I will be looking for another position near me in which EMPLOYEES are respected. This is a bunch of you know what.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

employees should be able to use the shuttle not just those who work in the 1MC building. I shouldn't have to walk to my building like I'm some college student. That's not what i signed up for. Way to go md anderson. that's sarcasm...
