    Into MK Ultra

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsPractices MK Ultra in collaberation with other schools of medicine. Inhumane, unethical, derelict in spending of grant money. Then on the bright side they feed you alot, have huge extravagant blow out parties, take you out to eat alot.

ConsThey are all now from this strange Massachussets democratic mentality. If you vote Republican they will terminate you.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo your own damage control for when you get overhelmed.

Can't imagine a better place to work as a nurse

Clinical Nurse (Current Employee) Houston, TX

ProsGreat nursing culture, large hospital with many resources, plenty of room for growth within the organization. Best pay and benefits for nurses. Teacher's retirement pension plan can't be beat. Money for you to go back to school $5200/yr on top of your salary.

ConsDivision of nursing has been implementing some strict nursing policies on dress code and time and attendance. There is a point system for being late, forgetting to clock in, calling in sick, etc. If you accrue too many points it can affect your ability to receive salary increases and job transfers. DePinho has given MDA a very bad image. Tired of the negative press that he has brought.

    Great place to work

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Houston, TX

ProsYou get to work with some really great people. Great retirement benefits and pretty good work life balance if you have a good manager.

ConsWe're hesitant to do try new ways of doing things to streamline the beauracracy. Faculty can be difficult to work for. Administrative managers are more obsessed with petty rules than fostering the work and creativity of individuals. That's necessary for nurses and office support staff but not so great for professionals. New "open concept" office environment is not conducive to productivity.

Advice to Senior ManagementAdapt to new technology and business practices faster. Encourage managers to use their discretion in dealing with work life balance issues.

    M.D. Anderson offers many benefits.

Senior Research Data Coordinator (Current Employee) Houston, TX

ProsThey have a great mentoring program, lots of opportunities for developing leadership skills, and the benefits are very good for an educational/non-profit organization.

ConsThere is a lot of red-tape in getting things done partially because there are extra rules as part of state government/University of Texas, vertical career moves can be difficult unless you are willing to apply to positions in other departments (straight promotions are rare)

    A great place to work

    Physician (Current Employee) Houston, TX

ProsPeople stay here forever. It's a happy hospital. You work with people who are the top in their field almost all the time.

ConsIt is concerned with maintaining it's position as #1 cancer center in America. There is some beaurocracy with that. Health insurance policy is only ok.

Advice to Senior ManagementAn extra week of vacation, please!
