    Drastic culture change -a Me two- instead of Number 1/2 , with less quality and more desperation

    ProsGreat patients ,unfortunately very vunerable when they arrive and often bombarded with request to partipate in poorly written research studies.

    ConsHemorraghing experienced staff physicians- -left instituition last 5-6 years. Many research staff positions unsustainable, layoffs frequent (best kept secret) Ask many????'s ie.how many have been in position last 10years and why they are not there now.

    Advice to Senior ManagementThere is a culture change, lack of respect for staff and ,rumbling , restlessness,increasing the last 3 years.

    ProsDecent benefits, however they are easily replicated elsewhere.
    Work efforts are not challenging so its easy to maintain a work-life balance

    ConsPolitics and image trumps skill and work ethic.
    IT leadership lacks necessary IT skills.
    Vendors do most of the work and mostly they lack the necessary IT skills.
    Raises are below current national levels.
    Significant brain drain.
    Oppressive, indifferent, erratic management style.
    No vision.
    Poor communication.
    The employee is always to blame.
    No technical career path.
    Embarrassingly low morale.

    Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on providing what is necessary now, not what might be the next big thing in 10 years. Treat people with respect. Provide incentive for people to perform. Provide challenging goals and corresponding work efforts. Stop micromanaging. Stop gathering metrics you cannot objectively interpret.

    Beautiful Buildings - do they always offer a good, solid career.

    ProsFrequent positions, ( not all due to growth ), Patients are absolutely wonderful, brick and mortar nice

    Cons-Hemorrhaging most experienced physicians- over the last few years - many leaving
    -Lack of trust for many executive managers
    -Benefits have diminished greatly
    -Unsafe walk from -far away parking surface lots ( 2013 notices sent -employee's can't use their buses,once parked, MUST walk to /from car ( frequent auto pedestrian accidents/robberies )

    Advice to Senior Management-Difficult Management structures- employee without a voice- fear of reprisal
    -Physician managers - should have mandatory/ ongoing - management/HR education (prevention of HR legal issues)
    -Departments with frequent (<5 yr period) staff turnover rates of 40-50% (Any single position title) HR/Legal should require- Initiation of external - independent management consultant review and Report forwarded to President.

    Very dishonest and miserable place to work

    ConsThe level of stress and negative affects on your overall health aren't even trade offs for those benefits.
    Managers are very dishonest and lack morals
    It isn't what you know it's who you know
    Parking is expensive

    Do not let the reputation FOOL you!

    ProsBenefits are excellent.
    iDeal discounts. We get discounts on a lot of services from Cell Phones Providers to Houston Zoo Admission price
    Patients are usually treated with the best level of care.

    ConsPolitics! Politics! Politics!
    Management very cold hearted and have no compassion for employees.
    Parking is way too expensive.
    Low morale
    Brown nosers' haven - your skills and work ethic doesn't matter here.
    Some managers are OVER PAID and are completely clueless about the roles of the employees they "micro-manage"
    High turn over rate in some departments due to poor management and operational flaws.
    HR does very little to help employees against abuse, harrassment and bulllyinf from bosses.

    Advice to Senior ManagementPlease have compassion for your employees. I have never ever worked in an environment so hateful and cruel. Please pay more attention to the turnover rate in certain departments. That could be a red flag on how the department is being managed. Appreciate your good, hard working employees instead of giving top of the line priviledges to those who cater to your ego and bring you breakfast and lunch to get ahead instead of working for it. Learn the the jobs functions of your employees, managers should be able to cover anyone they manage in the event of an emergency or staffing crisis.

    Great Care for patients, but horrible treatment of employees

    ProsGreat benefits. Love insurance. Excellent Patient Care, and lots of Diversity

    ConsManagement and license practitioners stick together be it wrong or right. Not fair sometimes when it comes to employees who are the support staff, the ones actually doing the work.

    Advice to Senior ManagementLearn to effectively manage. Just because you're fresh out of school and have your bachelors, Master, etc, etc..... Sometime a degree doesn't mean you can perform you job correctly.

    Unfair treatment of faculty members by senior management

    ProsBeing given the opportunity to take care of patients with complex diagnoses. Salaried position with good benefits.

    ConsFaculty evaluation process is unfair. Plans for improvement which were outlined in annual review were not carried out. Senior management is not transparent in their decision making which affects faculty members. Fair and timely promotion of senior faculty members not carried out. Unrealistic quotas set for numbers of patients seen resulting in diminished quality of care. I have been directly or indirectly involved as a physician with MD Anderson for over 20 years.

    Advice to Senior ManagementCleaning house of upper management and faculty members in leadership roles is in order. Their salaries are a drain to the MD Anderson budget. The majority of these individuals have high salaries & benefits costs when compared to other clinical faculty members. However, they do not contribute significantly to the revenue stream by seeing patients.

    Not the place you stay for the long-haul

    ProsBeing able to work with such a diverse culture and help so many people

    ConsHR. Eventually you will have to go to them for some reason, and they are horrible, horrible people.

    Advice to Senior ManagementBe fair and stop trying to pad your paycheck with budget cuts. We employees notice.

    ProsExcellent Retirement and PTO Benefits

    ConsMicroManaged, No Room for advancement, Benefical to those who have cush office jobs, not to the employee who works in clinic with patients, and most of all PDM!!! It's all about money and being in the black.

    Advice to Senior ManagementIf you would be more appreciative to the clinical employees who only get a 30 min lunch and really work hard to give our patients the best care... you would get more productive and happy employees. And tell Management to STOP with the MicroManaging! It hinders productivity and employee moral! Also, it would help if Faculty wouldn't always get the benefits of new Cafe's... 30 minute employees should have there own Cafe to cut down on traffic and allow us to enjoy our lunch and not rush.

    ProsMD Anderson is the best institution in world and it is thriving because of dedicated doctors and nurses.MD Anderson success wholly depends on doctors and nurses.

    ConsIT & infrastructure sucks, everybody is safe guarding there position and waiting to get balloon retirement package at the cost of cancer patients.

    Advice to Senior ManagementAn act of overhauling is required in EMR and Network Engineering starting from managerial level.
