    Pros

The job itself is wonderful. You have a flexible schedule and depending on the hospital the hours are very easy to work with when you have a family with young children. My coordinator is amazing and compassionate and ethical.

    Cons

Pay isn't what it used to be. When I worked there the first time around it was $9 per screen which allowed me to make $17-$20 an hour. Coming back to this job I was only offered a little over half that. Management tries to say that it's better for most people, but I don't really buy it.

    Advice to Management

Give your employees overtime, benefits, & holiday pay. You would have better staff and lower turnover.

    Pros

Pretty easy job. If you love newborns you will love the job. Flexible schedule. Minimum supervision when working. he values are great.

    Cons

There aren't much benefits such as health insurance or 401k. You can only get a max of 25 hours per week. I guess it depends on your locations

    Pros

Educating parents importance of screening. The joy of being with new little life

    Cons

Difficult to screen in mothers' rooms when there is high volume of interruptions. Screening should be in a quiet room where the little ones can pay close attention to the test.

    Advice to Management

    Recognition to screeners

    Pros

As a newborn hearing screener, the best moments are when you interact with parents. The pay is okay considering I had no experience in this field. If you want to enter in the medical field (get your foot in the door), I would recommend working for this company. They truly care about employees and patients.

    Cons

Inconsistent hours. You never know when you're getting off. This job can be stressful at times. The hospital I work at has an extremely high volume of babies born everyday. It is hard to find someone to cover a shift.

    Pros

Good benefits, decent pay, non management employees are a pleasure to work with

    Cons

Low salary cap, lack of support from management, no room for advancement for non regional offices, report driven

    Advice to Management

Listen to your non supervisory employees regarding compliance and other issues from supervisors or you will continue to lose good and long term employees.

    Pros

The company provides lots of support.

    Cons

They are sometimes slow to react to change.

    Advice to Management

Need to react faster to the changes in the market and need to keep connected in a more effective fashion to the physcians that are working in office base practices.

    Pros

Flexible if you have a responsible crew

    Cons

The pay is very low, not worth your time if you need a steady paycheck coming in, the staff always quit.

    Advice to Management

Pay people, and then maybe they will stay and work. Too many people take this job only to find out they aren't paid a living wage.
