    Pros

    A reasonably good benefit package.

    Cons

Lower end of compensation for the industry.
    Too many initiatives

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less can mean more. Keep it simple

I have been working at MSC Industrial Direct full-time

    Pros

    The benefits are good,

    Cons

the middle management only care about growth of your accounts and use micromanagement to try and keep you extra busy. Dont expect to make much of your commissions since the goals are so hard to reach.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the employees. They spend so much time talking that they don't understand the struggles of the feet on the street.

I worked at MSC Industrial Direct full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Strong company with a good reputation, fairly good benefits, excellent distribution system that allows for the offering of a great variety of quality products

    Cons

Some coworkers are unmotivated and poorly trained, some with 20+ years with the company still do not know how to do the essential functions of the job, especially in inside sales

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please defer more to outside sales reps and accounting executives, especially in their assessments of inside sales

I have been working at MSC Industrial Direct full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Nice office, free coffee, nice cafeteria, good co-workers.

    Cons

Too many managers in other areas trying to manage the managers in our location by phone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let the Managers manage their own employees in their own state. Seems like a power grab of what Manager can control the other. Divide the duties and let them work independently.

I worked at MSC Industrial Direct full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Growing national company with ok values. Above minimum wage. Benefits and vacation offered.

    Cons

Very rigid attendance policy. Goals and performance requirements in many departments very difficult to obtain. Long term associates are not valued. Unable to be flexible with associate issues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create flexible programs to meet associate needs as well as meeting business needs. Associates will be more flexible and willing to meet the business needs when they feel the company is concerned about their needs and feel they are a value to the company.

    Pros

The company has strong focus on the "Boss" our customer.
