    Great Resume builder

Intern (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsExposure to all the different deparments. Educational internship and a great thing to have on your resume. Friendly, casual environment

ConsEveryone is so young it looks like there is no long term employees. For production mainly use outside vendors. Wasn;'t able to stay in contact with supervisors.

Great reference but projects were uninspiring

Intern (Former Employee) San Francisco, CA

ProsExcellent reference and great networking opportunities. Great exposure to industry trends, technologies and products. Fun and laid back work environment.

ConsProjects and tasks were very low responsibility compared to other internships I have completed. They do not compensate for travel, which made interning difficult.

    Insightful

Intern (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsNurturing environment, casual atmosphere, extremely supportive supervisors. Offers an opportunity to work for one of the most influential media organizations on the planet and see the inner workings of cable networks.

ConsOccasionally menial and repetitive work, Times Square headquarters can get overwhelming. Sometimes employees seem too relaxed, would like to see a stronger work ethic among supervisors and management.

    Fun experience

Intern (Former Employee) New York, NY

    ProsYoung, friendly, bubbly employees
People are always willing to help and share their insight
    Cool offices
    Great building and views
    Fun environment

ConsI was only an intern so I didn't see too many downsides. Did hear stories though about difficulty moving up the ladder and understaffed departments like in programming.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay interns! Or at least give up a travel stipend. For such a huge corporation, a stipend to interns can definitely be afforded!

Fun, diverse atmosphere, but slightly bored

Intern (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsWhile interning at MTV, I was able to gain a lot of experience in my department. The people were very nice. The lounge is nice but definitely nothing to call home about. The environment feels very diverse and welcoming. I was able to meet with my intern supervisor on a daily basis to ask questions and receive feedback on my performance. I met some great people at MTV. Best of all, this internship looks GREAT on a resume.

ConsI wish interns had the opportunity to rotate to other departments to learn more and increase networking opportunities. I never really got the chance to meet other interns as the place is huge. I was often bored with nothing to do even after requesting work.

Advice to Senior ManagementI can't speak as a paid employee, but as an intern, I would recommend increasing networking opportunities/events for interns.

    Dream Internship

    Intern (Current Employee)

ProsMtv was so cool. We got to wear whatever classyish casual outift we wanted to. Every few weeks we would be excused from our duties for an hour to listen to a band. Celebrities were constantly dropping by for meetings. And you're working for a cool, hip, young network that actually can influence a generation.

ConsFor me the worst part was the Los Angeles Traffic- hello, 2 hour commute. But other than that as an intern you must obviously do all of the less than desired work load such as moving / packing boxes, organizing and mail duties--but none the less i loved the job

Advice to Senior ManagementAs an intern my manager was one person, my supervisor, and he did a fantastic job. As for the rest of the management i feel i had no insight for feedback.

    Good learning experience

    Intern (Former Employee)

ProsCreative hip atmosphere, lots of young people, possibility of running into celebrities and getting the first look into new media content, chances to participate in projects

ConsHigh turn-over rate, job security is somewhat unstable, hard to get hired full-time (usually easier to get hired for free-lance projects)

Advice to Senior ManagementMore stability and regiments, otherwise good job on work and life balance, diversity inclusion, and training programs (very large internship program)

    Intern slave labor

Digital Research Intern (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsCool company vision, central location in NYC, varied creative departments and channels within network, occasional celebrity sightings in office

ConsUnpaid internship, unstructured intern training/events, too many students to accommodate for (500 interns/semester), lack of day to day work, difficult to get full time hire after internship

Advice to Senior ManagementTake the time to mentor interns rather than just give them leftover managerial work to do

    Series Development Intern

Series Development Intern (Former Employee) Santa Monica, CA

    Pros-Resume Builder
    -Bagel Thursdays
-Staff that remembers you for later hire

Cons-You almost never have contact with anyone above a coordinator... unless they love you
    -Really mundane tasks
-Unlike some internships, they make you get them food almost every lunch time.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive the interns more to do

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
