I worked at Macquarie Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    1. Very entrepreneurial place where employees are encouraged to think big and push the envelop.
    2. Ability to take responsibility early
    3. Utilize the balance sheet when necessary
    4. Great brand, especially in APAC

    Cons

    1. Work-life balance can be difficult (depends on which regional office you are in. For the more established offices, expect typical bulge bracket hours.)
    2. Some offices can be a bit political (But expect this. The financial services industry isn't really growing...)

    I worked at Macquarie Group

    Pros

Take care of their employers; senior staff was very approachable; great perks; good salary; able to move up in the company.

    Cons

I think because it's such a global company, it can be a challenge to get recognized amongst all of the employees.

I worked at Macquarie Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The work environment at Macquarie is ideal for an entry level employee, very collaborative and helpful. They offer competitive salary.

    Cons

I was always unsure of the corporate vision at large, I felt that my group in particular worked in a vacuum, too separated from other resources Macquarie could hypothetically offer.

I have been working at Macquarie Group

    Pros

    open floor plan
    free snacks soda breakfast coffee
    Smart people to work with
everyone has a go getter attitude and no one is lazy

    Cons

open floor plan and everyone is in everyone's business
    Poor IT systems
    Poor IT structure throughout Macquarie
    Poor integration between businesses

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leadership at Macquarie is plentiful. There are to many people in charge on any one thing in NY. Since we are a remote office we have to much middle management and require more analyst level jobs. Its extremely unpreductive to have to get approval from 5 people to get one thing done.

    I worked at Macquarie Group

    Pros

    - Gives employees lots of flexibility to try new ventures and follow business ideas
    - Flexible business model
    - Superior ranking in APAC
    - Very smart people
    - Nice work environment

    Cons

    - Unstructured work environment
    - No central database to allow knowledge sharing
    - Often feels like the wheel gets reinvented again

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

align analyst and associate program more with US standard: i. e. train new hires when they start working (in July / August) and not only 6 months later

I have been working at Macquarie Group for more than a year

    Pros

Fast, innovative, smart and driven people. A lot of energy and a great building to work in. Activity based working which is great for mingling or great for the days when you need to be focussed and in a quiet environment.

    Cons

Individual behaviour rewarded rather than team player. Banking type personalities are a little different but once you know how it all works. It's fine.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The managers I've crossed paths with in the bank have all been fantastic, smart, knowledgeable. Some can be tough but very fair. Most as you would hope for are people focussed, friendly and very driven!
