    Pros

    Really..there are none. Customer service skills are polished that's about it.

    Cons

    Management at the time were on power trips,.
    Attendance was scrutinized to the minute, use of security camera as aid.
    Pay was mediocre as well.

    Fire everyone and start over.

    Understaffed, Overworked, Underpayed. They don't care about their long term employees. They just want part time people they don't have to pay benefits to.

    Pros

    This is one of those jobs it's good to have just to have a story when people ask what your worst job ever was. It will also motivate you to aim higher. I got the hell out of this place and went back to school.

    Cons

    Does not pay a living wage. No professional development. No training for your store section (I was thrown into selling pillows and then watches and couldn't answer any questions for angry/impatient customers). You will develop a disdain for materialism and waste, which may actually a positive in the end (but very depressing while working there). I never want to set foot inside a mall again.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I worked with some people for whom Macy's wasn't just a bump in the road but actually their career-- Most of them were really great people and I feel bad that they are being taken advantage of (most of them don't even realize it). Pay your employees a living wage and invest in them.

    you can pick up hours if available in other departments

    HR will do nothing to help you transfer, do nothing to help with problems with other employees or problems with managers

    listen to your employees you can't do Magic for clients when so many of your employees are unhappy
    The Magic should start with employees and they should be treated better

    There is really no pros to this job.

    Cons

    Macy's is actually a good company but have HORRIBLE people leading it. Store managers make their sales managers and associates so stressed about making sales goal and opening up credit cards it is totally ridiculous. NEVER WORK FOR MACY'S! You are just a number to them…that's all. They also can interrogate you and lock you in a room for 5-6 hours and them fire you for doing something everyone else does. It's terrible!

    THE PEOPLE YOU WORK WITH! They are the best part and make the day go smoothly.
    The discount is nice.

    That is all.

    Cons

    Being pressured to open their rip off credit cards.
    They like to keep the employees diverse so they let minorities or people who open cards up get away with anything.
    Managers treat you like your an idiot, but if your a "favorite" they at least say hi to while walking away.
    Macy's will do anything to help the customer, but they will not care about their employees!
    Turn over is high because nobody is getting treated with RESPECT!

    FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO WORK! I have never been so burnt on a job ever like this one.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Talk to each other.
    Be fair to everyone with the same rules regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation.

    HOW ABOUT THIS MACY"S.....GET NEW MANAGEMENT!

    Easy to get hired
    Job training

    Cons

    Manager gets irritated when I ask questions. She cut my time off working as result of asking questions. They had me not work a month of hours. I complaint to human resources. They didn't do nothing. I send in my 2 weeks letter. They want to me sign a paper to be rehire. It was not worth it. They have favoritism.

    Human Resources need to communicate better with open door policy. Treat your employees better.

    Management doesn't regulate employees, no teamwork, and the organization is limited

    FOLLOW THROUGH WITH YOUR JOB! If several employees come to you with an issue, it's up to you to do something about it not say "If I didn't see it, I can't do anything about it" which translates to " you're on your own" if you need something done, good luck!

    The discounts and flexible hours.

    Cons

    The cosmetics manager and office manager were unprofessional . So was the Loss Prevention team. They are not preventing loss . They harass you and intimidate you.

    Good sales and meet new friends with staff

    Cons

    Low pay. Over worked with little compensation. Worked for 4 years got 3 raises did four peoples jobs and HR looked the other way. HR is terrible doesn't care about employees. Get rid of people with higher pay to move in minimum. LP harasses and interrogates employees for no reason and hopes for confession and will turn around and fire you. Managers are shady and spend most of the time talking to each other and are impossible to find. Will let you do the work and take credit. Schedule minimum hours. Hours of repeat training.

    Weed out managers and listen to employees. There are a lot of associates that are good that are being fired for no reason.
