One of the most complex business organizations in the region, eroding away.

Senior Social Media Manager (Former Employee)
Budapest (Hungary)

I worked at Magyar Telekom full-time for more than 3 years

ProsDecent salary, great perks, lots to learn in central functions, room to grow and plenty of resources and opportunities to make things happen (if you're into it).
Depending on the branch and function you can also get some valuable international experience as well via Deutsche Telekom.

ConsHuge legacy systems, overly complicated & slow bureaucracy, committee decisions, siloes & infighting.
Comfort and complacency are prevalent; with huge external pressure on the business there is a lot of effort going into shaking up things internally, which causes anxiety in all tiers of management. This leads to bad decisions, mixed messages, hurried execution.

Advice to Senior ManagementRefresh key functions with fresh talent or face obsolescence.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Surviving constant change

Marketing Communications (Former Employee)
Budapest (Hungary)

I worked at Magyar Telekom full-time for more than 3 years

ProsLarge company with rules so one always knows what is expected of them
Possibility to work in larger teams
Plenty of opporutnities for everyone

ConsConstant changes - company was restructured every two years
To much office politics, took a lot of time away from real work
The changes brind a lot of uncertainty, managers never knew what would and what would not work.

Advice to Senior ManagementThink less about the structure of the company and let employees work/excel more ...

Very hierarchical, godd compensation package

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Budapest (Hungary)

I have been working at Magyar Telekom

ProsNice compensation package, even for junior employees. I was involved in a big IT development project, had the opportunity to learn a lot.

ConsVery hierarchical, not easy to get an idea approved. The culture doesn't foster individual ideas, one shuold do what he or she is said to do.

Advice to Senior ManagementMiddle management should pay attention to encourage creative thinking. The information flow within the organization is disapppointing, management should be more open towards colleagues.
