    Pros

Strong team dynamics. The people in the trenches care more than senior management. No advancement, HR department is lacked and not very helpful. You are a number there and nothing more. Overall employee concerns and suggestions are not acted on.

    Cons

Lacks true direction from senior leadership. To many influences on what and how technology is brought in and used. Annual budget and purchasing decisions do not always match the immediate need(s) or risks.

    Advice to Management

Hire more effective management. SOme have been there to long and have become complacent, cynical and part of the problem. Appreciate your staff what they bring to the table.

    Pros

Some very good people on staff

    Cons

Organizational malaise affects most departments, especially Marketing and ETS (IT). Overall, very frustrating.

    Advice to Management

Replace marketing management. Global IT infrastructure is on the verge of collapse.

  5. A good place for a career, but not a co-op

    Pros

The only pro is that you get hands on experience.

    Cons

As a technical co-op, I was assigned to a manager who did not have the time to give me assignments, let alone point me towards resources. The few times I was given a contact or a resource, they had unrealistic expectations of my abilities, given that there was no training or structure to the technical co-op program. I was expected to have intimate knowledge of how backend systems worked, but I had no exposure, no access, and no training/knowledge. Because of the nature of the business, documentation most likely doesn't exist, or is haphazardly cobbled together by random employees and difficult to find. At the time, all of the co-ops were assigned to sit in a meeting room together, the majority of whom all work on different teams. This isolated the co-ops and made it difficult to network with other Manahattan Associates employees, or make contacts that could help co-ops learn and grow.

    Advice to Management

Integrate co-ops into the employee force. By separating them, you prevent them from seeking out knowledge from experts in the company and from learning what the real culture of the company is like. Provide a standardized training session for technical co-ops on the layout of the systems they work on, such as WMS or others, so they can learn which tools Manhattan uses and familiarize themselves with these when they are not given assignments.

    Pros

Great benefits and coworkers. Stable company. Annual company meetings are fun...if you're able to attend.

    Cons

No control of your life. Executives do not care about employees. Company hires 100+ college students each year. Only a fraction of them (~20%?) remain after 2 years so there's a huge gap between upper management and the people that actually perform the work. Employees are expected to forfeit personal lives to 'do whatever it takes' to perform on the unrealistic timeline that was promised to the client (i.e. lots of holiday and weekend work).

    Advice to Management

Quit making promises to clients that the company can't keep. Treat your employees as people.

    Pros

Pay is competitive, if you want to work in supply chain, it's the best option.

    Cons

There used to be a good leadership team, but most of the good ones left, even all the good HR people have moved on. There is no company culture, other than fighting fires

    Advice to Management

Hire good managers, recognize those that do a good job.

    Pros

Manhattan pays comparable salaries for non-tech positions. Pretty decent benefits.

    Cons

As of 2013, new leadership seems to be a bit undecisive, which has caused extra effort on an already taxed staff. In addition, when an associate resigns, the responsibilities tend to be distributed through the affected organization (usually one person). Management waits until something is broken before bringing in contractors to fill the gap. Non-bonus eligible raises have tended to be rather low over the past couple of years, even for high performers. This is despite the fact that Manhattan has been consistently had record earnings for the same period with zero debt and over $100 million in cash. There was a big push earlier this year to complete an Atlanta Journal-Constitution "2013 Best Place to Work" which is touted everywhere, however, many are curious how this could be given all of the above cons.

    Advice to Management

More decisiveness in direction; given record earnings, zero debt and $100 million in cash, spread the wealth a little for non-bonus eligible employees; the message read from not backfilling positions does not help an already understaffed organization.

    Pros

This is a great job to work at if you want to travel. You also keep the rewards for travel purchases. The company throws some great parties. The experience is invaluable.

    Cons

You will work a ton of hours at this job. Management cares little about employees since the turnover is extremely high. The job can be very stressful.

    Pros

Satisfaction that you are having a job. Frequent flyer miles, hotel points for the company paid trips

    Cons

No work and personal life balance. Incompetent salaries - Normally I don't discuss salaries with anyone but I realized I was paid around 15k lesser than what they are paying others at the same level as me. Poor Management - If you are lucky, you get to work under good managers but I wasn't fortunate enough. I had to work with some really rude and in-compassionate managers. The more you work, the more you are made to work with NO incentives. No proper appreciation until you really cry out loud. I once had to beg to "take off" the weekend ! Apparently the mgmt thinks they own our weekends too.

    Advice to Management

Please try to care for your employees. We are not just money making machines. Also, HIRE NEW PEOPLE. You are seeing such good revenues, why do you want to suck the life out of the existing employees ? Put Multiple consultants on a project and don't keep just one consultant responsible for the entire lifecycle. They too have their personal lives and also like to spend time with their families during weekends rather than digging their heads through the product that doesn't work to start with.
