    Pros

Good benefits. Staff is great. If you want to be told what to do, this is the place. If you don't want to be held accountable, this is the place.

    Cons

Directors are really micro-managers. Most managers are just managers. Leadership above the director level appears to understand leadership. Director level doesn't understand what leadership is. The entire company appears to like management by fear. No one is held accountable. Big bark, no stick.

    Advice to Management

If the executives would lead and be leaders (making the tough decisions) this company may be able to retain white collar staff. Adhere to the values you espouse. Lip service doesn't work, hence the high turnover.

  3. Foodservice group lacks direction, has too little resources, too many projec and is overly concerned with cutting costs.

    Pros

Has a good portfolio of different brands.

    Cons

Undergoing a massive reorganization which has resulted with the brands no longer having any autonomy. People have been reassigned to functions they're either not qualified for or really don't want. In time, they'll probably see a mass exodus of key people as they find other jobs that provide more reward and satisfaction.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in people and quit the endless cost cutting.

    Pros

The pay is good and there is plenty of overtime. You can work as many hours as you want as long as you work at least 58 a week.

    Cons

There is mandatory overtime and you are forced to work at least six days a week. Five days a week you have to work 10 1/2 hours and on the sixth day you can usually work 8. Also, we are always out of parts and constantly changing the production schedule. If you care about the company, you will be frustrated.

    Advice to Management

Please invest in the QAD system and get control of your inventory. Also, get rid of the consultants who are milking the system.

    Pros

Manitiwoc provides many opportunities to work abroad, as a large portion of its business is done outside of the US.

    Cons

No diversity. Many employees have been working for the company for an extensive amount of time, and have become very resistant to any change or new ideas.

    Advice to Management

When creating project teams or committees, increase the candidate pool from which you choose these candidates. Most internal committees are comprised of the same core group of people. Not because they are experts in their field(s), but because they have worked together for many years and continually nominate each other. Ensure that all core ethical standards are enforced throughout the company... domestically and internationally.
