I have been working at Manpower full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Employee engagement is the best, total compensation is not bad but not industry leading. Great environment very people friendly

    Cons

Very siloed and frequently changing strategy, conflicting agendas sometimes get in the way. Not the most innovative sales culture

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be agile versus reactive - stay the course a little longer, value outside perspective/experience a little more

I have been working at Manpower

    Pros

Great co-workers! We've worked together for a long time, so the team dynamics flow smoothly.

    Cons

Our technology is so out dated that smaller competitors in our market are running circles around us. Has anyone clicked on our 1990's website recently? Someone in management also made a stupid decision to work exclusively with Monster, so we're losing visibility to 25% of the candidates available on other job boards. One thing is consistent, recruiting decisions are made by people that aren't recruiters, and when those uneducated ideas blow up, it makes us be reactive rather than proactive. Commission reports are rarely processed for us to review, and once we see them, they are riddled with errors. The commission payout formula is convoluted and messy. No acknowledgment or recognition for years of amazing growth and return on your investment. The mentality around here is that no one works hard enough or deserves praise. No raises or performance reviews in years. As a HR company who is an industry expert, our HR department is one of the most poorly run HR departments I've ever encountered.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Add tools and technology, not just empty promises. We rehash the same complaints and gripes year after year, and nothing ever gets solved. Send your commission based employees accurate commission reports in timely manner, and quit changing how you pay commission. Kid you not, I was recently given this excuse for a completely botched commission report, "Oh. We just realized that we've been overpaying you for the past 7 - 8 years, and we made a correction to our formula that will impact that." What?!?!?!

I have been working at Manpower

    Pros

I'm gaining good experience. I work with some great people.

    Cons

I sometimes feel lost because I don't really have a supervisor. So it would nice if there was someone I could turn to for help.

I have been working at Manpower as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Friendly Staff.
    - Very helpful.
    - When they find a job that fits you and you're willing, they do everything they can to put you into that position.
    - Easy to understand structure.
    - Can help you get into big well known companies.

    Cons

    - No communication on how you're doing at the position you're in.
    - No salary increase (been there for years. no change to the salary, despite getting a ton of praise at work).
    - For some people (not for me), it can be a con if your supervisor is in another state and you can either be alone or be with someone who can be just as clueless.
    - Their health insurance costs can be steep, especially if you're not working that many hours.
    - You are either gonna be in the same position forever or the company you're a temp for will hire you. Its the only route it is going to go.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give praise and show appreciations to workers who have been there for a long while.

I have been working at Manpower as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

    Almost impossible to be fired.

    Cons

Joke, no benefits or sick days or any contact with supervisor. I was told in a group meeting with multiple contractors present that we had no chance of being hired by EMC, and not for performance based reasons.
