The right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Columbus, OH

ProsWhen I went in to go over my job they were friendly and they seemed to be concerned with employee retention

ConsThe recruiters in the office were very unprofessional talking bad about the company they were recruiting for while potential employees were in the office. I was also told by the recruiter that training would be one day, when in reality it was two. It was very frustrating to feel that nobody knew what was going on and they didn't really care.

Off-shores employees for low qualified (but cheap) foreign labor

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsExcellent working conditions and fellow employees

ConsManagement had a problem with the truth, limited training, dated technology, inability to create and follow a plan other than downsizing headcount for cheaper employees, constant flux as plans poorly vetted are executed badly with little follow-up, weak lower level management oversight, etc. A company struggling to find its place in the modern marketplace.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou get what you pay for. Pretending that American customers and employees are happy with your drive to maximize profits for shareholders and senior management's benefit by off-shoring jobs is a short term fix for a long term problem.

    Easy money

Patient Attendant (Former Employee) Ann Arbor, MI

ProsEasy job depending on the patients and area of the hospital (University of Michigan) but the nurses, tech's and docs see you as invisible until they need something. Very little respect. Pay was $9.00/hr on regular floors and $10.00/hr on psych floors.

ConsThey fire people without giving them proper notice, resent you when you don't pick up shifts or stay over/late waiting for your relief.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo something to prevent high turn-over rate, give raises, and holiday pay without working 1500 hours.

Expect nothing more than a paycheck that will never change no matter the effort or skill you put in.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Naperville, IL

ProsThe pay check clears every week. They can find you a job, which is better than having no job at all.

ConsTerrible to zero benefits. No raises ever, no matter how many years you have worked there. Ridiculous vacation plan. Stupid beyond words. Incentives are a joke. Work for Manpower when you simply need a job, but expect nothing more than that. I have 4 years of a long-term assignment, no evals or raises of any kind. I do not recommend Manpower unless you simply must have a job to take care of your family ASAP. If you have any other options use them.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou can not work for a company for years, being both effective and professional, and receive no raise whatsoever. It is beyond comprehension.

Advertise jobs, but suspect they are just gathering resumes

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThey do have temp jobs, pay weekly via direct deposit

ConsI responded to an ad for a long term temp job I was perfect for, but when I came in they said it was filled but they had other amazing jobs too which could lead to full time. I kept seeing the job they said was filled advertised. They claim to have lots of great opportunities, yet the only job I was sent on (I'm in Minneapolis) was a job in a very rough area of town and was not exactly what they told me it was going to be. They also say they have benefits, but they are expensive and not comprehensive. The people who worked in the Manpower branch I visited seemed bored and I heard them complaining and talking office politics.

Would think hard about working for this company...make sure it is temp to hire if you do!

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe time-off policies where decent even though there was no paid-time off. Benefits were offered but at a premium. Work environment was comfortable and laid back. Flexible working hours was great.

ConsBenefit package became worse over the past several years. There were no advancement possibilities beyond low level management. Promised permanent placement but upper management did not follow though. Extensive overtime requirements.

Advice to Senior ManagementSupply time off benefits to long term "associates."

    Needs work

    Administrative (Former Employee) Greenville, SC

ProsFrom the time that I signed up with the company they were very quick to find a position for me.

ConsThe communication with the company and their contracted employees needs A LOT of work. There are NEVER any raises and good work is never commended

Advice to Senior ManagementFor the years that I worked for Manpower I was never commended on the hard work that I did. I was never offered a raise and I was never even contacted until my contract was terminated. Other than the initial discussion when I signed up, there was no communication initiated on their part. I think that their contracted employees would work even harder and be more dedicated if there was some positive communication offered.

    Assembly - Merck

    Assembly (Former Employee) Cleveland, TN

ProsThe work is easy and interesting. 10.00 per hour Job is temp.

ConsThe Merck Employees are rude to temp Manpower Employees and when you complain.
The Management at Merck lets the Merck Employee get over.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo not laid off people because your employees are rude ....Correct there behavior.
Dont let them make fun at there break table because they know the temp worker is getting laid off.
