    Pros

I have been working with Marathon for 16 year, and I am very happy with benefits, compensation and the environment. Great professional and safety training program

    Cons

I do not think there is any reason not to work for Marathon. Recently this has been chosen as one of the best employers to work for.

    Advice to Management

Everything is great. Keep doing the good work.

    Pros

Never a dull moment. Pay and benefits are excellent.

    Cons

You have to be willing to move to advance - most people advance by moving. Strong not-invented-here culture.

    Advice to Management

Find ways to promote knowledge sharing. The company needs more of that between silos.

  3. It was a great experience, highly recommended opportunity.

    Pros

Safety is the number one concern. It was emphasized and carried out everyday within the refinery. As a Co-op you were treated with the respect each full time engineer received. Each employee was polite and willing to help when assistance was required on design projects.

    Cons

It is an inherently dangerous job that should not be taken lightly, however as long as each employee adheres to their training the units will run properly and safely.

    Advice to Management

Please provide a little more information to employees on the location of the badge trailer for their first day of work.

    Pros

Amazing compensation package. (7% pension, Bonus Program, health benefits and 401K matching up to 7%); Focused on Community and Family; Most Satisfied Employees in America according to 2014 poll; Great Career Advancement Opportunities; Tuition Reimburesment; The list goes on and on.......

    Cons

If you want to move up in the company, you may have to move around the country a bit. But it's completely worth it, and the company really helps with relocation.

    Advice to Management

No advice, it's an excellent company to work for.

    Pros

Marathon Petroleum does an excellent job at attracting and maintaining employees. They have a great culture that holds safety paramount. Clear progression ladder.

    Cons

They don't have quite the pay that some of the oil majors can provide. The locations to work for them are somewhat limited to lower-desired areas of the country.

    Advice to Management

Continue to train and advance performing individuals. The culture is important to Marathon Petroleum employees and they care about their work.

    Pros

Given all the responsibility you can handle, great company culture, training is fun and extremely helpful, interesting company to learn about, a lot of co-ops and younger employees, pay is great, living stipend could be better, travel opportunities, overtime is granted for co-ops, cafeteria, management

    Cons

Work experience depends a lot on assigned mentor and supervisor, living stipend is taxed heavily, Findlay is a great town but not the most exciting

    Advice to Management

I had a great mentor, but I know of co-ops that did not have the best experience because of their assigned mentor. Put in place a mentor training program that enables mentors to set co-ops up with a diverse working experience. At the end of the term, co-ops should be able to perform their mentor's job and NOT just tedious tasks even though they provided a "learning experience".
