Former Employee – worked at Marc Jacobs International as an intern for less than a year
Pros – You do actual work, lots of adobe illustrator, no pouring coffee or anything like that. Some xeroxing like any other internship, some going out and running errands. Mostly it's just drawing on Illustrator and doing mockups of jewelry. You get a free handbag at the end of every season, and there's leftover leather too that you can take if you want.
Cons – Sometimes the computer files are jumbled and unorganized, which makes getting work done efficiently difficult. I wish interns would get paid something because we do pretty much the same work that freelancers do.

Former Employee – worked at Marc Jacobs International
Pros – The two best reasons are the reputation and the environment. Marc Jacobs has a great reputation as an innovative and well known brand. People in general are impressed when they hear you work there, it's a highly coveted company to work for, and it'll make your resume stand out if you're applying for a new job (which helps in the ever so popular fashion industry!)
The environment is young, casual, and friendly. It's less intimidating than other fashion companies and you don't feel ostracized if you aren't fashionable. But of course, for the most part everyone is (and you probably will be too after awhile!) The company has a decent employee discount and an even better calendar of sample sales. There's also a legendary holiday party in December.
Cons – In my experience people are often hired and promoted based on popularity, not competency or experience. The pay, like any other fashion company, is on the low side. But it is comparable to other fashion companies.
Advice to Senior Management – More rigorous reviews and feedback that get incorporated into promotions. This would help with the above problem.
