    Pros

    Great patient population/pathology. Hands on experience and unique opportunity to grow as a professional.

    Cons

    Lack of strong leadership. Residents are undermined by attendings fostering current nursing challenging behavior. Constant battle with an unaccountable nursing staff.

    Advice to Management

    Hire respectful people, retrain personnel and make them accountable

    I have been working at Maricopa Integrated Health System full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Health System has gone totally electronic with the medical record.

    Cons

    IT leadership from the CIO down to the team manager, lack experience in managing people, and policies. The employee suffers greatly due to managements inability to make a decision. Until they get major overhaul of the leadership, they will just be another "County Hospital".

    Advice to Management

    You have a CIO without healthcare experience. Directors and managers without experience. You are putting your patients safety at risk.

    Pros

    Benefits are good. Very nice people to work with.

    Cons

    Directors who have their own agenda and protect those employees that they have a history with. They talk about retention, yet their actions do not say that they value their good employees. It seems that they have loyalties to those who have been with the organization for many years, not with those that were hired recently.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to what the staff have to say. They know more about what works and what doesn't than management ever will. If they say there is a problem, you can be sure that there is, even if it involves a senior management person.
