Still feels like a start up

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsStill feels like a start up - can try new ideas all the time and stick & grow with what works

Consgetting more bureaucratic every week, but typical for a company at this stage

Advice to Senior ManagementChallenge is to keep it fun & energetic, especially in Austin where the job market is very hot.

Growing company but lacks in many ways

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsAlways very flexible, small perks, great location, strong product in the current market

ConsBoring, dull workspace, not as good benefits as other startups in the area, not much of a culture in its community

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

    Stable Release Process

    Engineering Manager (Current Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

ProsVery stable and regular release process. Stakeholders understand the value of quality code and unit testing and the dangers of scope creep, which is almost non-existent.

ConsWorking on a large, mature web application, technical progress can seem slow sometimes.

Great product, company culture quickly changing

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

Pros-The product is industry leading and the folks building it are really smart
    -Competitive salary
    -Ok work life balance
    - being in a remote office is fairly autonomous as long as you get your work done

Cons-Becoming consumed in corporate red tape
-Management overhaul- original management from start up has left and new management doesnt care as much about culture
-lack of visibility in remote offices. People in SF are getting picked for all special projects
-lack of management direction. We've been in a state of constant flux for 1.5 years with no goals or reviews

Advice to Senior ManagementSettle on a structure and have the discipline to stay with it. Work on ways to keep old employees, historical knowledge is huge in a tech/software company and the ramp up speed is slow.

Keep putting emphasis on building a great product. It's easy to stay excited when great things are coming out

Good people, good, product, good service...

    Account Executive (Current Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

ProsVery nice location with great benefits ranging from commuter/parking reimbursement, flex spend, stocked fridge, 3 weeks PTO, solid salary, etc. Product is strong in the market and constantly evolving for the better. People are smart and assertive.

ConsBusiness units are silo'ed and they don't work together cohesively sometimes. Silos create their own culture and they dont always keep the overall mission in mind.

Advice to Senior ManagementReduce the silos - managers need to build cohesive and synergistic teams to really push Marin forward.Keep innovating.

Smart, talented people in a fast growing company

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat product, has good potential especially now that the company has gone public. Lots of smart, talented people in the company to work with, can definitely learn a lot while working at Marin.

ConsCompany is getting a lot bigger really fast. A lot more processes, HR involvement, making it that much harder to get things done. Not a lot of visibility into company/product vision.

An established company with the feel of a start-up environment, and great people to work with

    Business Development (Current Employee)

ProsThe people at Marin are what make the company so great to work for. The hiring managers do a great job of hiring individuals that are not only qualified, but incredibly talented on a number of fronts. The management is better than anywhere else that I've worked previously, and for the most part the teams are well organized and cross-functional overall, with information flowing freely to and from each team member to help each other become more effective w/ their particular role.

ConsThe company is growing quickly and the market is maturing faster by the day. Marin has established itself as a market leader and would like to keep it that way in an increasingly fragmented and competitive space. This being said, as a company that's going through changes, it's difficult to minimize the "growing pains" experienced by employees. Keeping up with the face rate-of-change can be difficult for some.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the good work
