The pay is fair for the amount of disorganization and physical demands.

Food Runner (Former Employee) San Antonio, TX

ProsThe pay was the best part of this job, and the hotel has an employee cafeteria that has great food sometimes. It's also easy to move up in the company if you stay and try hard enough.

ConsDefinitely work-life balance. You will not complain about not getting hours during the busy season. Sometimes you might get really physically exhausted and want to call off the next day, especially if you're working hard outside. Also, a lot of the cooks are a little creepy.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire more people that are not interns that will disappear as soon as the school season starts again, this way, you will not suddenly become understaffed.

Strong resume builder, but need to move on to move up

    Marketing (Former Employee) Bethesda, MD

ProsVery diverse company with many different job functions to expand your skill set.

ConsGood company if you want a long-term stable job without a lot of upward mobility

Advice to Senior ManagementLook to promote from within faster (e.g. clear out dead wood faster)

    Great company

    Front Desk Associate (Current Employee)

    ProsPutting the guest first.

ConsGetting management to step up when we're short staffed. Pay is horrible for what you deal with

Advice to Senior ManagementShow your employees you appreciate them while there working through holidays and 24/7.

Started off well, then when we got a new GM things started to get worse

Night Auditor, Front Desk Agent, Manager On Duty (Former Employee) Chattanooga, TN

ProsBenefits were awesome and fairly priced The people that I worked with at the front desk and with on overnight were awesome. The GM that hired me was by far one of the best GMs I worked for.

Conspay was very low compared to other night auditors at different hotels...also worked there for 3 years and only a $.50 for 3 years!?!? Always came up with bogus things on my review so I wouldn't get a raise, management-they would only work 9-5 M-F as soon as the clock hit 5 they would be gone didn't matter if we were busy or not, they did not care about employees at all

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen someone is hired to do Night Audit shift do not make them work the day shift just bc they have another day job and you want to observe them. Observe them doing their actual job...

Great burgeoning property with no apparent room for growth.

Front Office (Current Employee) Cincinnati, OH

    ProsGreat new and popular property

    ConsNo room for career growth

    Takes Care of You

Front Desk Host (Current Employee) Denver, CO

ProsGreat learning experience, many benefits to employees, great customer service training

ConsLast minute scheduling systems, overwhelming amount of systems, must be able to deal with people in stressful situations!

Really takes care of their employees

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsIt's very employee focused, one mantra is "take care of your employees because they'll take care of yoyr guests and the guests will come back"

ConsThe leadership structure has a lot of layers, it works for this company but it isn't ideal for me

    Overall good place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsAlthough you start at the bottom as far as schedules go, but there is a real chance to move to a better schedule with your stats. The pay is decent coworkers are great. And theres opportunities to work from home

ConsDowntime. It could be that it bothers me because I like to be able to constantly be in motion. The stress on you to try and make your goals for the day when receiving horrible calls.

Advice to Senior ManagementFind other things for people to be able to do while there's downtime. And place less emphisis on the goals of conversion. Workers will do their best to do their job regardless so holding the conversion goal over their head just stresses them out, makes them angry, and in the end start non servicing.
