I have been working at Marsh full-time for less than a year

    Pros

This a great, well-established company. Good people work here and the benefits are great and the time off is generous.

    Cons

The pay could be a little better, but it's more than do-able.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My office supports offices around the country, and some other offices' co-workers could be better with communication.

I have been working at Marsh full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Marsh has treated me well - they let me work on what I want and provide every possible benefit. The culture is OK as well - it is virtually unheard of for anyone to raise their voice or be rude to anyone. You get every benefit known to mankind, and late night/weekend work is rare these days

    Cons

Frequent layoffs, endless pay freezes, senior management gets large bonuses but other employees get nothing unless you know someone. The company wastes money on endless fashionable management initiatives and rebranding but will not spend a penny on infrastructure applications. The bureaucracy can make you crazy. Women and minorities do not get promoted. There is absolutely no training and virtually no career path.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get more involved with day to day activity - I have never seen any of the current "C" level management in person. Enough with rebranding and internal marketing initiatives -- the core systems are rotting and costing a fortune. Outsourcing IT is not saving money - you are getting less work for more money and have no ongoing knowledge of systems.

I have been working at Marsh

    Pros

work with a group of friendly co-workers

    Cons

job security is always behind one's mind

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Obsession in cost cutting will ultimately have an adverse effect on company's performance. Having satisfied employees is equally important as pleasing stock holders.

I have been working at Marsh

    Pros

Very interesting company with loads of opportunities for people willing to take them onboard. Plus very flexible and stimulating environment

    Cons

Management needs to do his homework. Plus hr department can be absent sometimes. Facilities and IT system not the best of the lot

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work harder on motivating your stuff. Sending emails or making surveys is not really the best way to share you vision

I have been working at Marsh

    Pros

Decent starting pay and good benefits. Decent flexibility of work/personal schedules. Professional atmosphere. Good access to social work related events, free drinks after work, dinners, lunches, etc.

    Cons

Great place to work but jumping ship is the only way to advance your career professionally. Pay structure is set up to minimize costs not reward people or keep them around long term. They can attract you with a high salary but don't expect more than 2-3% annual raises. Training is NON EXISTENT.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I get that your job is to maximize shareholder value but a little more dedication to employee satisfaction would yield better results than the costs associated with turnover.
