    Pros

Complex work experience with large fortune 100 clients

    Cons

    Pay and performance metric controllability

    Advice to Management

Use a true balance scorecard approach that is actually tied to performance level of the employee and adjust pay when they are successful.

    Pros

Corporate Structure On Site Cafe Broad locations worldwide

    Cons

Pay/Rewards Politics - For success you must join in with the fake management onboard. I refused to play on the team. Too much red tape, very management heavy. It takes 5 weeks to get anything done Lots of waste- management, processes, system Systems and programs are from 1990 or earlier

    Advice to Management

Maybe work to remove some of the inefficient management from the top and things will shift in the right direction. Invest in your technology, 1990 systems should be long gone if you want to become an winning organization.

A great place to work so long as you sell, but don't expect a lot of support developing other skills.

    Pros

Upbeat, professional environment. Leadership tends to let middle management run the show. Charitable focus. Competitive salary.

    Cons

Senior management can lose focus, allowing for some bad decisions to be made at the operational level. Commitment to employees, teamwork and winning seems to have been lost within MMA.

    Advice to Management

Get back to doing the things that worked in the past. Such as incenting employees at all levels, encouraging employees and teamwork, and guiding middle management.

    Pros

Company has a good reputation in the industry. Global platform. Its a paycheck. Not micromanaged.

    Cons

Too much beaurocracy. New York has to approve everything. Too many managers, too many people with titles. Compensation is awful, raises and bonuses almost unheard of except for producers and top management. Cliquish, cant get ahead if you are not part of the in crowd. Entire departments outsourced to India, no job security at all. Anyone can get let go any day of the week. Employees are treated as expendable and are not valued. Turnover seems to be high, probably because of compensation. Noone is recognized except top producers ands senior management. Middle managers cannot get anything done without levels of approval above them. They also seem so worried about their own jobs, they are afraid to speak up or take initiative. HR appears to be a ghost department. One has no idea who to call or if there is anyone to call. Terrible inefficiencies in invoiving and accounting. Embarrasing to call clients asking for payment when they have already paid and accounting cant find their money. Company seems more interested in pouring money into marketing and technology initiatives than retaining talented employees. You cannot ever telecommute. If you have an appointment, you have to take the whole day off.

    Advice to Management

A little value of employees goes a long way in morale and productivity. Stop the rah rah meetings until you can compensate people that are actually doing the work to make it a profitable company.

    Pros

Marsh employees are the best trained employees in the industry.

    Cons

Local management seems to think they are above it all. They get away with treating hard working dedicated employees like dirt and even if employees file a complaint nothing is done about it by HR. And to add insult to injury those same managers get promoted and hard working valued employees get layed off.

    Advice to Management

Make sure HR is documenting the employee complaints and pay attention, geez what does it take?

    Pros

Benefits are Good, Tolerance of Diversity in the Workplace is a Plus for Those Who Need it; PTO is Excellent.

    Cons

PCS is only about sales goals and making them at any and all costs these days; Zone Leaders reduced from 5 who knew their areas down to 2 who are under so much pressure to perform for a CEO from a prior position at an auto parts business of all things! It's insulting!

    Advice to Management

Put someone in charge at the top who knows what a high net worth client is truly looking for - not someone who just wants to put $100M in new business on the books at all costs. The true costs will be losing your top management people.

    Pros

    Provides employment for the community

    Cons

Executives are delusional and lack ethics. They LIVE IN A BUBBLE and are unable to stay focused on complex yet basic corporate tasks. No vision on why they exist (people, process or customer). BTW 2011-20xx leadership track record is poor! Inept (includes Sales and Operations) on leading complex business efforts allowing Urbandale to be successful with a solid business outcome. Consequentially Urbandale lost key people, lost big clients, revenue and ran up ALLOT of expense. High turnover as line staff gets laid off because customers leave and what remains is the bubble team (bullet-proof as have CEO mislead and confused). MMC recently did reorg but don't expect different results - same behaviors still exist; when faced with a challenge, bubble team goes underground; protocol now is to move the goal posts, identify blame and activate "death by PowerPoint". Next, managers and supervisors are pressured to focus on "bottom line" so they invoke unrealistic goals with fear and intimidation. Bubble team got no game! They have lost over $50M in revenue on 2 clients alone yet no one gets fired - bubble team is bullet proof because it exists throughout all Urbandale executive leadership. On the flip side; success has many fathers and expect to get trampled on 3rd floor as everyone is lined up to get recognition whereas failure is an orphan. Hand out titles like its fruit loops - by comparison AVP would be supervisor at respectable firm. Those with a conscience and integrity leave.

    Advice to Management

    Can't run a business off a PowerPoint
