    Pros

Excellent benefits package, relaxed office environment, interesting colleagues. Local roles are limited but there are many opportunities to advance or move around in the company if you are willing to relocate.

    Cons

It is really up to the individual to push the envelope and get noticed in order to be given the opportunity to grow. The tools are available but a lot of personal effort is required in order to advance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to encourage colleagues to become involved. When hiring new colleagues, highlight the growth opportunities that are available and be sure to state plainly that most opportunities for advancement outside of supervisor/manager roles will require relocation. Figure out how to reduce the high turnover.

Firm is contributing to the advancement and debate of socail issues retirement, healthcare, risk mitigation to cover the unexpected...with all the natural catastrophes insured businesses (those that take risk advice) are able to recover and help communities to recover as well.

    Cons

constant cost cutting distracting from growth investing

Have to record every little action that you perform on a log

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers should be enthusiastic and informative of their respective jobs, that wasn't always the case.

I have been working at Marsh & McLennan Companies

    Pros

    Salary is decent

    Benefits are good

    My office environment is decent

    Cons

    Upper level management

    Not much opportunity to advance

Company wide raise freeze after first year of employment. Raise freeze has been in effect for several years now.

Horrible feedback from management and bad performance review policies. Management seems to think that unless you email them every time you sneeze then you don't exist as far as the company is concerned (slight exaggeration)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

MMC is a decent company to work for but there are some serious competency issues with people in upper management that are driving the IT sector of the company in the ground. First level managers are great from what I have experienced.

It's only a matter of time before things implode and the IT infrastructure will be in need of a serious overhaul. Once CIO level management realizes what is going on things will change in the company.

    Pros

Stable company, Great leadership, salary and benefits package. Brian Dupperault is doing a great job. attractive bonus and midtown location are also a plus.

    Cons

Performance review needs to be improved. Need to give better opportunities for employees to switch jobs wiyhin the company. Continuous education should be given to employees who exceeds management expectation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Brian Dupperault is doing a fantastic job. They are on the right track and will succeed. Should give more autonomy and opportunities for growing within the company.

    Pros

Great Place to get experience in work world if interested in a career in financial services that doesn't require over 50 hours a week. Great People and usually top flight clients.

    Cons

Company was hit hard by Spitzer suit and only really began to recover in 2008. Very limited up side potential. Don't work here if money is your top priority.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep making necessary changes to firm for growth.
