I worked at Marshalls part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The easiest pay ever. Working fitting room is so easy it's almost tiring, though. It's very boring. But working the sales floor is great. Didn't get register trained. Now I think I suspect why.

    Cons

I suspect some quiet discrimination at the store I worked at. It's funny...the video we watched proudly states that marshalls supports diversity, yet there were so many non-white team members and not a single non-white manager. Also, one of the managers was a rude woman who never bothered to ask my name.
I was seasonal, was sick in my second month of work with bronchitis. i missed more than a few days of work so it's understandable that they'd let me go. What I didn't understand was why they didn't have the balls to tell me to my face. Are they incapable of talking to me like a human being? Guess not. I saw they changed my schedule from the two shifts I still had that last week to no shifts at all. And then treated me like an idiot, even though I have a photo of the schedule they actually switched out. Truly childish and cowardly.

I have been working at Marshalls

    Pros

    Easy job that's about it

    Cons

They don't recycle anything, they throw Perfectly good stuff away if it doesn't sell instead of donating it to homeless or animal shelters, everybody talks crap about other employees, the supplies that are there for employee use are no good, there are constant payroll problems and they cut hours a lot

I worked at Marshalls part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

nice associates (all in the same boat) decent discount, get 1st crack at clothes before customers.

    Cons

WOW,where to start. Probably the worst is poor choice in store manager (thinks she know EVERYTHING)and is very lazy, always looking to pin a problem on someone else! Poor morale (again due to management team). Workload is never ending and NEVER enough payroll for ANY task to be completed. The messiest customers in the world period! Clothes always on the floor and shoe department is the messiest ever. Just NOT a good place to work and minimum wage at that, work at a fast food place,it would be way easier and the same pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to really examine WHO you have chosen to represent YOUR company as some are VERY poor ambassadors and not all customers will complain, many just won't come back!

    I worked at Marshalls

    Pros

The people there made it not so bad to work at.

    Cons

Pay rate, customers. This job sucked the soul out of me. I had to quit or else I see a therapist. With the amount you had to deal with, minimum wage is not enough compensation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Marshalls bring the worst customers into the store with the "low" prices. How about management makes sure their employees are compensated enough for the amount of b.s. the customers make them deal with. Maybe something like $10/hour. MINIMUM WAGE IS RIDICULOUS.

I worked at Marshalls part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The discount is nice and you are always busy.

    Cons

The management. They nitpick, are unfair and threaten with termination. Very unprofessional.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be professional. Do not abuse the small amount of "power" you have as a manager to try to intimidate people and harass them.

    Terrible

I have been working at Marshalls

    Pros

Coworkers are nice. Or at least some of them. Only thing that makes work bearable.

    Cons

Only 10% discount for working there. Management only care about themselves. They want you to do extra work, but don't want to give you something in return. New management won't let you take time off during the holidays even if you have vacation or plans. Looking for a new job. Can't take it anymore.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give more benefits for part time employees. They are the ones who really run the store. And if you want someone like a parttime associate to do the work of a coordinator or key carrier, then be willing to give something like extra pay in return. Stop being selfish.

I worked at Marshalls part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Good hours during summer

    Flexible schedule

    Friendly Associates

Meet many new people almost every day

    Cons

No hours 8 months out of the year

    No advancement

    Dictatorship like management

Horrible pay for sales and stock associates

    Miniscule yearly pay raises

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give associates more than a .26 cent raise for two years of employment. And don't have so many management positions, too many chiefs, not enough Indians. And please don't let your part time associates go two months without a single hour of work.

I have been working at Marshalls part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Regular associates were some of the greatest people I worked with. We all came together with one common thing: we all hated our job

    Cons

    - Company's system is very outdated.
    - Treats Evert customer like a criminal if they lose their receipt
    - Kissing up will get you a promotion
    - workload is nowhere near worth the pay.
    - management is lazy and inexperienced
    - work life balance sucks. They want you to work every day for the cruddy pay
    - the discount is only 10%
    - the training is awful. You are thrown to the dogs and expected to catch on overnight
    - actually leave notices that require no rto in certain months
    - coordinators given too much freedom. They leave the slack for regular associates
    - weird rules that really make no sense
    - job really isn't worth it unless you really need a job. But don't expect much.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit being lazy, hire more people and stop calling the same people to come in because you hired lazy people.
