I have been working at Marshalls

    Pros

Flexible hours, co-workers are awesome, gain a lot of retail knowledge.

    Cons

Horribly understaffed, managers, too much work expected to be done in little time, pay.

    Advice to Management

Maybe it's the area where this Marshalls is located at, but this job is not worth it. I get it, it's a job. But this place I would not recommend. I'm in the Mens and Kids department. The managers in this store depend on me so much and they're always pulling em away from my department and most of them expect my department to look nice, have a project finished, and have go-backs taken care of. Only reason I mind this is because Im always closing and that's when it gets the busiest. I'm pretty much skiing coordinator work without the pay. Only thing keeping me there are the awesome co-workers and coordinators.

    Pros

    - Always kept busy, hardly any down time
    - Had great co-workers which made the job more enjoyable, during my 10 months working there.

    Cons

    - Like all retail jobs, it requires you to be on your feet
    - Always understaffed. Your normal day will consist of a few cashiers working the registers and only 1-2 people working each department. Because of this, you will always get called to be a backup cashier most of the day if you are working the floor. By the time you get back to your department, it will be a huge mess and you will constantly hear complaints from your managers for not keeping your department clean. It is not our fault that we are understaffed, we were doing the best we can. Constantly giving us crap about how we are not doing the job doesn't help.
    - Expects too much from you for being paid minimum wage.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better. There is a reason why a lot of people quit here not long after they start.

    Pros

Good if you're in high school or college. Hours a flexible and they work with you with time off and vacations for certain periods of time.

    Cons

No room for promotion. Company guidelines always different based on whichever location you are working for.

    Advice to Management

Standard Rules and Procedures need to be overlooked and implemented at ALL locations.

    Pros

Flexible schedule and great shopping opportunities

    Cons

The pay is very low with little opportunity for advancement. You will work every position in the store because they refuse to hire enough staff.

    Pros

Management, part-time, fundamental customer service skills. Great job for high school students, not great as a full-time or career.

    Cons

Worked part-time just for something to do when I was off of my Full-time job. A lot of playing around when there was work to be done. If you where a closer you had to do the morning and night work, morning people didn't seem to do much. Even though you requested certain days off, if there was a holiday or the store need you you could work 5 days straight (not good for someone already working 40+ a week).

The work is not worth the low minimum wage. A lot of being pulled around with no time to think. Nickel and dimed, for real.

    Advice to Management

Management is GREAT!!! Higher pay for the amount of pulling and stretching should be considered, and please be more selective in the associates you choose.
