    Nice place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Dallas, TX

ProsAt the corporate HQ, people are friendly, culture is focused on enriching women, company is doing well, especially outside the US, and customers are loyal to the high quality products. Great employee benefits, health insurance, etc.

ConsCompany is changing from a US centric mindset to a multinational or global perspective, which causes some stress as best ideas are now coming from all over the world, not just from the headquarters in Dallas. Plus, different countries have differing needs, so that also adds other levels of complexity.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue focus on accountability and trust. Doing a good job.

    Wonderful company supporting women!

    Independent Consultant (Former Employee)
    Carrollton, TX

ProsLots of team spirit, free marketing ideas and product discounts.

ConsYou must buy a certain amount to stay active as a consultant. Sometimes, this can make for a stockpile of products.

Advice to Senior ManagementSome Directors will not support a new consultant unless they have purchased over a certain amount of product. This just seems totally opposite to what Mary Kay would have done.

ProsI love that this is a self paced business. You work your business the way you want to get what you want. The company rewards its employees in many different ways.

ConsIt is a sales job and you have to be willing to put your self out there and work through your fears.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThere are a lot of different leadership opportunities in the company, and they were very flexible.

ConsI did not have a time to put into the job, because I was just doing it part time. THere were many opportunities for assistance, but I did not take advantage of them.

    It's up to you

    Independent Beauty Consultant (Current Employee)
    Marmora, NJ

ProsUnlimited earning potential, company perks possible (cars, jewelry/diamonds, etc.), advancement, company support, flexible hours, no territories, etc.

ConsYou have to get out there and market yourself and your business - business is not going to come to you. It does require work (and on-hand inventory is helpful).

Mary Kay is an exceptional business concept and emopwers women.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe sisterhood and training was second to none.

ConsThe only concern is that not all directors and or consultants are honest about how much work it really takes to grow a profitable business. Also some directors coerce their team members into doing whatever is necessary in completing whatever business level they are pursuing;such as pay day loans, high interest loans, borrow from 401K. The ones that wins the race is those who are slow and steady.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou have a lots of consultants around the world, but hiring staff to do quality assurance would be great or act as secrect shoppers. I'd do it for you in a heart beat. I still continue to endorse Mary Kay because the products are good and the process works. Just tainted with people who are all about the money.........
