Current Employee – been working at Maryland Department of Natural Resources
Pros – Overall a very laid back, fun place to work. Hours and time off are very flexible. Salary is competitive, but certainly not stellar. The benefits are great however. Lots of pride in the workforce.
Cons – As with all state agencies, must deal with the ebb and flow of the State budget. Tough budget times equates to layoffs, furloughs, low morale.
Lots of people seem to work here just to collect a paycheck, but there are plenty of people who are passionate about what they do to make up for it.
Advice to Senior Management – There seems to be a disconnect between the leadership team and the worker bees. Keep workers in the loop and listen to their advice.
