    Pros

MassMutual offers a decent competetive pay for full time employees. Most departments have a flexible work schedule, meaning you may start anytime between 7:30am and 9:00am and work your 8 hour shift. They offer a 401k plan with a 100% match after 3 years of employment. You will receive 3 weeks vacation time and 4 personal days and 5 paid sick days from day of hire. Medical benefits also begin day of hire. There is no waiting or trial period before benefits start. If you need excused time for an appointment during normal work hours you may take up to 4 hours with management approval and make up the time within that current work week.

    Cons

Mandatory overtime at peek times of the year, Never ending work loads

    Advice to Management

Spend more time with the employees getting to know exactly what we do as front line employees of the company.

    Pros

    Unlimitied pay scale, recognition, awards.

    Cons

No salary -- 100% commission, lead generation can be difficult.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on training employees with regards to suitability and come up with a way to reward assets under management....too focused on life insurance and can be a conflict of interest.

    Pros

    - Ability to ACTUALLY own your business - Smartest manager I've ever had (and I've worked for several competitors) - Huge product portfolio (not just insurance) - Love the Financial District - For the really ambitious: Advancement Opportunities

    Cons

    - I can understand the bitter reviews, but this career isn't meant for everybody. Definitely not for the faint of heart and the thinned-skinned. - This career is extremely challenging WHEREVER YOU GO, but SF MassMutual is where I received the best type of training throughout my long career in this industry. - Be prepared to make sacrifices early in this career. I am seeing newer agents starting their second year, and are already reaping the benefits.

    Advice to Management

Great CFP Mentoring program. Even though I am a veteran in the industry, the leader of this office, Joe, has given great advice and strategies that have taken my business to the next level. ~This only works if you apply what is being taught~

    Pros

Every thing that you need is right on their Springfield campus. The management is great and plenty of training opportunity is available.

    Cons

There are a lot of people there who have been there a long time. That affects the culture, it makes people beleieve that the old way of doing things is the best way.

    Advice to Management

There are a great amount of things that management is doing well for the well being of employees. A bit of embracing change and updateing the building would work great.

    Pros

Massutual has a strong work ethic and many nice people who work for the company. Most are happy to deliver results to a financially secure company. While the decisions don't always keep everyone happy (I for one was laid off) the managment staff makes solid decisions for the good of the organization.

    Cons

No parking garage - lots of snow in the winter and heat in the summer.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and growing your results.

    Pros

As a new advisor, I feel that their training and support is excellent. We have ongoing training twice weekly and mentorship through senior advisors for those like myself who are new to the business. Management of our (Walnut Creek) office is competent and always ready to share and help. My manager is part of my success as he available to me on a regular weekly basis to keep me moving in the right direction. I truly enjoy the great team environment and coworkers here who are friendly and open to giving me sales ideas and support.

    Cons

You have to be deligent about time management and self reliance to become successful.

    Advice to Management

Keep on offering the incentives, rewards and trips for all associates.

    Pros

Rigorous selection process, state of the art training on products and sales, very strong support staff, community focused, client service focus, strong leadership in agency and at the senior level of the company.

    Cons

Like any start up, long time to build practice

    Advice to Management

Have more frequent, informal, all hands meetings to let us know how the agency is doing. Twice a year at LCA is nice, but even 30 minute meetings every 6 weeks would inspire even more loyalty.
