I have been working at MassMutual full-time

    Pros

There are really no pros that are good enough to mention.

    Cons

    It is behind the times
Why have four of the same software when one could do - is anyone thinking of the expense?
Management is overtly good old boys club and ignore their underlings
What is with all the meetings?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rid yourselves of 3 layers of management
MMWay is for the business not IT

I have been working at MassMutual full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Resource managers are great, if you are not on a project, work/life balance can be good

    Cons

Promotions are not given, salary increases are very low. Seems like job openings are predetermined, can't move up. New metrics system/daily huddles and low cube farms are horrible. Would you like to sit 7 feet away from someones face and watch them pick it all day?

I have been working at MassMutual full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

For a commissioned agent, Mass Mutual is the company to work for. You work for Mass Mutual directly. Great commissions and benefits. Great product line up and a very high premium placed on ethics.

    Cons

Company works on a General Agency basis. Each office is in affect a franchise and each General Agent has leeway in how he or she operates. The GA definitely sets the tone of the office. If you looking at Mass Mutual you should definitely interview with different GAs (there are three in the Los Angeles / Orange County area). Also, staff positions works for the GA, not the company. Therefore salary and benefits can vary greatly from office to office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Local staff should have access to home office benefits. (Note - the city listed below is not the actual city. Don't want to give away my office).

I have been working at MassMutual

    Pros

Fly-in and training for Blue Chip sales agents, same holiday schedule as staff, short commute, centralized location, nice building

    Cons

"Mad Men" 1960s good old boy mentality among agents.

I have been working at MassMutual full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Their best advantage is in providing sales support for new business. They focus on training weekly and they encourage entrepreneurs.

    Cons

This is not salaried and it no real marketing support is offered. It is akin to a franchise in that production quotas must be met. Other than informal suggestions by sales managers, there is little help. Cold walking business is not productive and competition in the NYC area is fierce. Every third person seems to be working in this industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest money in developing account management rather than focusing on out-dated cold-calling techniques. Provide financial backing for seminars.

I have been working at MassMutual full-time

    Pros

decent pay, decent benefits, there is a lot to take from peers and network, multiple satellite locations, team work and effort

    Cons

training is long, tedious and a bit overwhelming, there is a lot of information that is covered and must catch on fast to be successful in position, serious call volume with an array of participant issues, 11 vacay days, 3 personal, 3 sick, must rollover 40 of those hours, scheduling is not the best

    Pros

    Vacation time
    Training
    New building/environment

    Cons

    Poor medical
If you do get sick it is very frowned upon to actually use the sick time.
    Systems are very unorganized.
Management puts more focus on revenue generating incentives than providing accurate/quality customer service
When mistakes are made in other departments you are the front line for those customers
