    Pros

Great people who work very hard. Good flexibility for work/life balance by working from home when necessary (apparently in most departments).
Good opportunities to grow, if you're working for the "right" manager.
Excelerated learning, if that's your goal to learn as much as possible very quickly.

    Cons

The recent org changes have lifted senior management higher on the pedestal and the worker-bees left cleaning up the fallout of the changes.
Too many managers who are horrible at managing people and don't care as they are protected by HR.
HR supports management and are NOT there for the employee. Therefore no channel to voice issues. Even the people who do stand up and buck the wrong doing are quickly ushered away; or worse, labeled too messy.
Conversely working from home is pertinent as you're worked all hours of the day, night and weekends. It is an unspoken expectation to respond to emails that are sent on a Friday night prior Monday morning.
Not enough resources to do the amount of work that is expected with little to no notice.
There is a constant contradiction of why processes are created and are necessary to have. When an employee tries to follow compliance processes and push back for substantial reasons that will have negative impact, management just overrides when escalated. There is no management support for their own words and process if the revenue is big enough to the bottom line and helps them reach their financial target for the year.

    Advice to Management

Make sure managers know how to manage people BEFORE they are assigned direct reports. Provide them the proper training for understanding communication styles and legal implications of reading below the "water line" of emotions of an employee. Not every manager who can manage things can manage people.
Support employees who have the courage to raise serious issues about poor managers by really investigating the problem instead of "talking" about how employees have a voice and can raise such issues.
Flatten the mid-manager structure and recognize the managers who actually empower their direct reports and uplift their careers. Make 360 reviews mandatory for all managers and actually do something about managers who score low.
And for goodness sake get rid of the complacency attitude that lifer employees are actually doing any work. Too many productive and hard working employees were let go and people who've been around for 15+ years who yield no actual work or value are still taking up space at a desk.

    Pros

Dynamic Innovative Environment. Corporately making some good window dressing moves that look good to the street and have a good story.

    Cons

Massively incompetent management for Canada. MasterCard fantastic innovators but terrible at execution which is less than half assed. No commitment to actually execute.

    Pros

Flexible schedules available for most people.
Good pay and benefits at higher-level positions.
Reasonably family-friendly if you push it.
There are some very smart people there.

    Cons

They will work you as hard as you let them.
Processes are constantly changing and rarely documented.
Outsourced service providers have spotty quality.
Heavy politics and poor planning are the rule, not the exception.

    Advice to Management

Foster greater communication and teamwork. Responsibilities are split across many different groups and it often requires escalations to management to get people to work together.

    Pros

Great benefits to general employee population. Best 401K I have ever participated in. The global nature of the business is exciting and interesting.

    Cons

The old boys club guard is hard to shake... they continue to promote people without full posting of opportunities.
People are moved to California from NY to work with VC's with little to no background of working with them prior..... difficult position for them to be dropped into.

Not competitive salary wise to the bay area engineering culture

    Advice to Management

get your comp competitive to the environment and do not use the national scale. Engineers also need to be interested in working on exciting things.

Good place to learn, especially if tech/payments is where you want to be
    Stable platform
    Opportunity to move between departments
    Good work/life balance

    Cons

Company is still stuck in old school culture despite management's best efforts
Growth and progression is based on tenure and not merit
Middle management wants you where you are and does not want to let you grow. Very few good managers/leaders to work for. Unfortunately many blockers

    Advice to Management

Live up to promises made during hiring.
