    Potential to make a difference to the way value gets exchanged

    Cons

    MasterCard is a pretty slow company as far as decision making is concerned. People do not necessarily perform, and leaders do not necessarily seek performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    A great CEO by himself cannot hope to change the company. It's important to have leaders who share similar vision and passion to execute.

    Pay and benefits are amazing but it comes at a cost. The culture isn't for everyone.

    Cons

    Culture can be extremely fast paced & cut-throat. Also a very cold place to work focused on results only.

    - Lovely office
    - very friendly and helpful colleagues
    - flexibility to work from home is great
    - decent enough salary and benefits
    - lots of scope for learning

    Cons

    - long hours
    - antiquated and dysfunctional release process
    - not developer friendly e.g. machines are sub-standard, no admin access on own laptop
    - lack of recognition for extra work

    Start recognizing employees for their extra work
    Make the promotion process more transparent

    The company pays better than market to their employees. The time off policy is very generous. The O
    Fallon building has many perks for the employee.

    Cons

    The culture and the actual environment are totally different. MasterCard HR tries to promote work/life balance. Putting the employees first. The actuality is long hours, overworked staff, and a hostile work environment. Management is worried about covering themselves and showing up others so they look good with no regard to the result of the dept. or other employees trying to do their best.

    Review the business leader and above in the GBSC transaction services and replace with competent leadership.

    Pros

    What you learn is only limited by your drive to learn. Flexible schedules are a perk. Benefits are competitive. Strong technology focus on the core network enables value added products to be developed.

    Cons

    Bureaucracy in middle management inhibits productivity. Need to create better alignment to vision communicated by executive leadership. Software Development culture not quite state of the art - no vision in procuring the right tools to do the job.

    Hire better talent and create an environment where they succeed. Stop the cover your ass culture.

    No salary negotiations for lateral moves
    Salary increments are between 1 and 4%
    No career progression
    Poor management training and support for new management. Managers lack leadership skills, managers lack the balls to fight for what is right.

    The company would lose ambitious (tomorrow leaders) if they do not harness and promote employees.
    Meeting or surpassing expectations should be rewarded financially and with the opportunity of promotions.

    very consensus driven, not driven to take risks, HR no help. hope you get a good boss!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Encourage turnover / new experiences to improve the energy levels; look at the leadership and see if they fit the mould for tomorrow or just a reflection of the past; take some risks to refresh the talent to show you are changing the old banking culture.
